Globe security guard
jailed for firing gun
PILAR, Abra – A
security guard of Globe Telecom was arrested here for indiscriminately firing
his gun while under the influence of liquor in Barangay Villavieja night of
Dec. 26.
The suspect identified
as Jerry Masaoay Divina, 40, was arrested in Villavieja after a concerned
citizen reported that he was firing a gun.
Confiscated from his
possession was a homemade Cal. 22 with two empty magazines while recovered from
the crime scene were five fired cartridges of caliber .22.
Two boys die of
electrocution
LAOAG CITY – Two boys
died of electrocution recently here in front of the Laoag City Hall.
CJ Iba and
RanierAclan, both 10 years old and Grade 5 students of the Santa Maria
Elementary School, were playing hide-and-seek near a Christmas display when
they accidentally touched a live wire.
The victims were
pronounced dead on arrival at the Laoag City General Hospital.
Laoag City Mayor
Chevylle Fariñas ordered an investigation into the incident. She said the city
government would provide financial assistance to the family of the victims. – Ariel

Suspect hits young man
with stone
BOKOD, Benguet –
Police reported a case of physical injuries which recently transpired here in
Poblacion. The victim was identified as Nelson Pido Leano, 21 while the suspect
was named as as Nelson Balliag of Barangay Ambagueg here.
Investigation revealed
the suspect hit the victim’s forehead with a piece of stone then ran away. The
victim was accompanied by his companion at the Municipal Health Office in
Poblacion where he was treated and sent home later.
Man arrested for transporting illegal logs
TUBLAY, Benguet – Town
police here conducting mobile patrol along the Halsema Highway recently
intercepted at km 18 a private Hyundai Grace Van bearing license plate number
XLC 169 driven by Monico Dawines Antonin, Jr. 36, resident of Camp 6, Kenon Road, Tuba,
Benguet.
The van was loaded
with illegally sawn pine lumbers with a total volume of 835 board feet. The
driver together with the van and its load were arrested and a case was prepared
against him in court.
This, as police of
nearby La Trinidad town discovered eight pieces of pine lumber along Barangay
Central Balili road. The lumbers were brought to the La Trinidad police station
and later turned over to the DENR.
Argument in drinking
bout leads to arrests
BANGUED, Abra – Police
arrested a certain Darwin Battallones Galera, 31 here night of Dec. 26 in
Barangay Calaba South, Bangued after an argument with persons inside the house
of victim Danilo Blanza Blanes, 58, of Calaba.
Police said Blanes and
companions were drinking liquor inside his residence when the suspect arrived
and had a heated argument that led to a commotion.
The suspect avoided
the victim and his companions and went home but they followed him and tried to
hit him with a metal pipe but the suspect hacked the victim on his right cheek
but then he was also beaten.
The victim was wounded
on his right cheek and was rushed to Abra Provincial Hospital while the suspect
was arrested by responding personnel of Bangued police. The kitchen knife used
was later recovered.
All arrested suspects
were jailed while charges were prepared against them.
Chief Supt. Ulysses J.
Abellera, Cordillera police director warned criminals and troublemakers they
would be arrested if they persist in their illegal activities.
Bar drinker arrested for concealing knife
BAGUIO CITY – A man
was arrested here recently at Hiland Bar along
Rajah Soliman St. for concealing a deadly weapon. PO2 Edwin Reyes and
PO2 Gary M. Tabangcura, both PNP members assigned with COMPAC 3, Station 7, the
arrested suspect identified as Brandon Dumanglig Ugwan, 43, laborer, native of
Mayoyao Ifugao, and residing at Barangay Bengao, Bakakeng here.
Investigation
disclosed that the complainants received information that the suspect who was
inside the said establishment was armed with a gun. Bodily search was conducted
that resulted in confiscation of a double-bladed knife from the suspect’s possession
prompting the police officers to arrest him.
Security guard nabbed
for theft
LAMUT, Ifugao – Police
recently arrested a certain Actor C. Ajhoy27, security guard for theft.
Reymundo L. Aumentado, Presiding Judge of RTC, Branch 20, Cauayan City, Isabela,
who issued arrest warrant recommended bail P40,000 bail for Ajhoy’s temporary liberty.
Benguet, Baguio cops
arrest carnap suspect in Pangasinan
BAGUIO CITY – A
suspect in carnapping of a Hyundai Grace Van in Purok 27, San Carlos Heights,
Irisan here Dec. 2 weas recently arrested along McArthur Highway, Villassis Pangasinan,
by Benguet and Baguio cops.
The suspect was
identified as Salvador Morejes Orogo Jr., 30, unemployed, of Poblacion, Sablan,
Benguet. Rufus G. Malecdan Jr., Presiding Judge of RTC Branch 9, La Trinidad,
Benguet issued warrant for his arrest and recommended bail of P20,000..
Lagawe cops distribute
goodies to pupils
LAGAWE, Ifugao
-- Police here led by Insp. Juliet Nalidong recently distributed sports
equipment, school supplies, and other goods donated by kind-hearted
residents of the municipality to 134 pupils of Dulao Elementary School
here.
Nalidong said the
activity under the “PisoNamin, NgitiNyo” aims to win the minds and hearts of
children especially in far areas.

and SPO3 Mildred Atluna also lectured on anti- bullying and discipline to
pupils, as they encouraged them to give their best in their studies
for a better future.
Meanwhile, a
total of 67 members of the Barangay Peace Action Team attended training on the
operation of handheld radios, basic self-defense in arnis and martial arts and
the “Lambat- Sibat” program of the PNP.

‘Akyatbahay’ man slain in shootout
CAMP JULIAN OLIVAS, Pampanga — An alleged member of the notorious “Akyat
Bahay Gang” of robbers operating in Nueva Ecija was recently killed by police
in a shootout in Barangay San Nicolas, Gapan City, Nueva Ecija. Police tried to accost two men riding in
tandem on a motorcycle in Barangay San Nicolas at 3:15 a.m., but one of them
shot at police. When police returned fire, they shot and killed the back-rider,
Louie Garcia, of Purok Riles, Barangay San Vicente also in Gapan City. The
other suspect got away. Garcia, it turned out, is wanted for a series of

Tarlac police gets 17 new vehicles
CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga – Seventeen police vehicles were turned
over to the Tarlac provincial police office at Camp Macabulos on Wednesday.
Interior Secretary Mel Senen Sarmiento and Philippine National Police
logistics head Director JuanitoVaño Jr. delivered the vehicles, said Chief
Supt. Rudy Lacadin, Police Regional Office 3 director.
“The distribution of patrol jeeps speaks well of the goal of the DILG
(Department of the Interior and Local Government) and PNP to increase its
capability in running after criminals ...and assisting our people in disaster
response operations,” PNP spokesman Chief Supt. Wilben Mayor said.
The mayors or representatives of the towns of Anao, Bamban, Camiling,
Capas, Concepcion, Gerona, La Paz, Mayantoc, Moncada, Paniqui, Pura, Ramos, San
Clemente, San Jose, San Manuel, Santa Ignacia and Victoria received the vehicles.
