TABUK CITY, Kalinga - - Barely two
days after the start of the local campaign period last March 26, the
Tabuk City Election Office noted early violations of the Commission on
Election(Comelec)-designated common poster area here.
City Election Officer
Reyman Solbita said Comelec Resolution 9991 provides for certain election
prohibited acts including posting of campaign materials outside the designated
common poster areas.
Solbita said Comelec
had already issued notices to violators, who are given three days to remove,
lest they face election offense charges.
In the province,
COMELEC had designated a stretch of the provincial road from the “white
carabao” marker in barangay Bulanao until barangay Laya as common poster area.
According to
Solbita, also included as prohibited
acts are campaign materials hung on power lines, posted on electric posts,
nailed on trees and posted on government or public structures.
In line with the Commission’s
policy on fair election practices, COMELEC-Tabuk shall conduct regular
“OplanBaklas” against illegally posted campaign materials during the campaign
period, Solbita warned.
