DANGWA, La Trinidad, Benguet – Chief Supt. Elmo Francisco Sarona assumed
command as regional director of Cordillera police in rites here Monday presided
by Chief Supt. Robert after flag-raisng ceremony.
Sarona, in his message, he cited three
important virtues that he wants in every personnel: discipline, deep Sense of
commitment and teamwork.
These, he said are the virtues which are
indispensable factors to ensure the attainment and success in achieving the
organization's goal.
“Neither I nor you can do this mandate alone,
but if we will work together and work as a team, there is nothing impossible
for us to accomplish. Let us manifest discipline, have a deep sense of
commitment and work as a solid team in this police regional office,"
Sarona said.
Another highlight of the program was the
awarding of ten deserving police personnel for their commitment and devotion to
duty in fighting illegal drugs and anti-criminality campaign that brought honor
and prestige not only for themselves but for the Philippine National Police.

Trader shot dead in
Abra

Abra -- A businessman was killed while his son was unhurt in a gun attack in
Bangued on July 1.
Godofredo
Marquez and Goody Boy, 15, were delivering goods to the public market when the
assailants opened fire. An investigation is underway.
Farmer hacked in Apayao
drinking session
FLORA,
Apayao – A farmer hacked another farmer here 10 a.m. Monday
here
at Sta. Ana, Balluyan. Police named the
victim as Joel Barbero Suelo, 42 while the suspect was Norberto DeLa Cruz
Sevillano, 44, both Balluyan residents.
Police investigation disclosed that tiem, the
victim with Ronald Gaoiran and Armando Corpuz had a drinking session at
the victim’s house.
Around 2 p.m., the suspect arrived and joined
the group. Around 5 p.m., Ronald Gaoiran, and Armando Corpuz left when the
suspect suddenly drew his bolo for unknown reason and hacked the victim. The
suspect fled holding his bolo after the incident. The victim suffered hack
wounds on his left cheek and chest below his neck and was brought to Elias K.
Bulut Memorial Hospital and Training Center at Luna town.
Responding cops arrest the suspect and the
weapon used was recovered from him. According to the arrested suspect, the
victim boxed him several times prompting him to retaliate and drew his bolo and
hacked the victim. Suspect is now under the custody of Flora police.

Abra – A man shot his brother here over a dispute resulting to the arrest of
the former. Police said around 9:10 p.m. Monday, personnel of Abra Provincial
Hospital informed htme they were treating a patient of an alleged shooting
incident that transpired here at Barangay Dangdangla.
The victim was identified as Michael Carzola
Bio, 41, unemployed while the suspect was named as his younger brother, Manny
Verzola.
The suspect together with his brother, Melvin
Bio, and Hercules Verzola were having a drinking session at their family house
when the victim who was also drunk arrived. Accordingly, the suspect and the
victim were having their conversation when a heated argument ensued regarding
their children. The suspect drew a handgun from his sling bag and shot his
brother once and escaped.
The victim was rushed by his younger brother,
Hercules Bio and his son Ryan Bio to the Abra Provincial Hospital for medical
treatment. Victim sustained gunshot wounds on his left chest and left forearm
and still confined thereat.
The suspect is still at large.
Tarlac man loses
belongings in Baguio night market holdup
BAGUIO
CITY – Beware of thieves while shopping at the night market here along Harrison
Road.
A man identified as Leo Cadio Felipe
Mangosing, 23, student, of Tarlac City was robbed in the area by an
unidentified male suspect wearing black jacket, red short pant and a bull cap
who took his Gray I-phone S, Guess watch, pair of black Nike shoes worth
P4,000,leather wallet containing his TM card, IDs and cash of P6,000.
Police said the incident happened Tuesday
around 12:30 a.m. along corner Lake Drive. At around 12 midnight, the victim
left his companions who were shopping at the night market. The victim proceeded
to a dim portion of the road to smoke a cigarette when the suspect who came
from the dark portion of a park and asked him for a cigarette. Suddenly the
suspect brought out an ice pick and poked it on the victim’s waist and declared
hold-up. After divesting the victim’s belongings, the suspect casually walked
back to the park while the victim went to the police Women’s and Children’s
Protections Desk in the area and reported the incident
Personnel of the WCPD accompanied the victim
to arrest the suspect who could not be found.

National High School. The arrest was made after ergio T. Angngannay presiding
judge of RTC, Branch 36, Bontoc Mt. Province issued warrant for his arrest with
no bail recommended.
Unemployed man shot
dead in Abra
BANGUED,
Abra – A certain Mardario Liberato Alcantara, 54, unemployed, of Barangay
Ubbog-Lipcan, was shot dead here by unidentified suspects July 3 at about 3:45 p.m.
Prior to the incident, the victim brought his
vehicle for repair to Delfine Calpito Banayos, a resident of Ubbog-Lipcan. When
the victim got down from his vehicle, unidentified suspects on board a
yellow/black Honda XRM 125 motorcycle, shot him twice and fled north direction.
The victim was shot on his face and was rushed to Abra Provincial Hospital by
his relatives. However, he was pronounced dead on arrival by the attending
Physician, Dr. Belmore Bernal.The vehicle of the suspect is under the custody
of Bangued police.
Hairdresser loses
P11,000 to man in hotel sleepover
BAGUIO
CITY – A male hairdresser slept with with a man identified only as “Brent”
Monday night and woke up to find his pouch containing P11,000 was missing. A
police report said Adolfo Lopez Daguioan, 33, hair dresser and “Brent” checked in here around 8:45 p.m. at Highland Lodge, Lower General Luna , after
drinking liquor outside.
However, at about 12:40 a.m. the following
day, complainant Daguioan noticed that the suspect was not around and
discovered his money was missing. The complainant tried to call the suspect
through his cellphone but he could not be contacted prompted him to report the
incident.

surrendered a Gauge 12 Shotgun to police here July 3. Said firearm is now under

CITY, Kalinga – Police nabbed here July 3 a certain George Paga Malgapo, 46,
for illegal drugs and firearms. A police report said around 11:45 that day,
police received information from a concerned citizen that a male person wearing
gray sweat shirt and brown short pant with a short firearm tucked on his waist
was attending a wake in Sitio Darang, Barangay Cudal.
Cops immediately proceeded at the said area
and established a checkpoint along the Alinanag - Paracelis intersection
wherein they flagged down the suspect on board a motorcycle heading towards
Tabuk. Confiscated from the suspect were shabu and a Cal. 45 handgun loaded
with seven bullets. The suspect including his motorcycle and pieces of evidence
were brought to Kalinga provincial police office.

Ifugao – A man wanted for rape was nabbed here July 3 around 6 p.m. at Cuta,
Poblacion West. Police identified the
suspect as Jordan Hunnob Allaga, 21, unemployed, of Barangay Dulao, This
after Romeo U. Habbiling, presiding Judge of RTC Branch 14, 2nd Judicial
Region, Lagawe issued warrant for his arrest.

Benguet -- Police while conducting patrol along Mankayan-Abatan Road
particularly at Ambabag, Guinaoang found an abandoned motorcycle
July 3 at about 8:30 a.m. he motorcycle was described
as TMX 155 Motorstar, coloredred and black, with engine number MS162FMJ8FA00968
and chassis number LZSPCJLB3F5212541, without plate, and registered to
Roel A. Diw-ayan of Tubiday, Santol, La Union based on the Xerox copy of the OR
and CR that was attached to its hand grip. Allegedly, said motorcycle was
abandoned for almost a week.
Driver hurt after
vehicle plunges down cliff

Benguet -- A Toyota Tamarraw FX
fell down a ravine here along km 272 Gueset Ambuclao July 3 at around
1:20 p.m. Said vehicle was owned and driven by Brendo Pinkihan Cayat, 31,
married, farmer, and a resident of Bakong Sabkil, Itogon.
Investigation revealed that the vehicle was
traversing towards Barangay Sabkil when it accidentally fell down the 40-meter
deep ravine. The driver was rescued by cops, Disaster and barangay officials
including Baguio Fire Dept. He was brought to the Baguio General Hospital where
he was confined.
Businesswoman’s body
found in room

CITY – The body of a certain Ann Mabiasan Saya-ao, 51, married, businesswoman
was found dead at the second floor of her house at No. 499 Upper Gibraltar here
July 3 around 4:30 a.m.
Investigation disclosed that the daughter of the deceased named as Milagros Saya-ao went to visit her mother and discovered her cadaver lying flat facing the floor and was already cold and stiff.

using maintenance medicines for high blood pressure. The daughter and relatives
of the victim requested that the cadaver will not undergo autopsy as they were

Abra – A man was shot by still unidentified men here June 29 at around 4:30 p.m. in Sitio Pinsal, Narnara, Police
identified the victim as Reynaldo Galinato Cabael, 52, barangay kagawad.
Investigation disclosed that the victim and
companions were resting at a rice paddy when they were fired upon. The group
saw the victim fall on the ground with blood oozing on his body that caused his
instant death.
Police found two fired slugs away from the
crime scene.
Bocap shoots farmer

CONNER,
Apayao – A farmer was shot dead by a barangay captain here around 9 p.m. of June 28 at Purok 6, Ripang. Police
named the victim as Romulo Addulam Sibal, 49, while his assailant was named as
Marino Penera Costales, 51.
Investigation showed the drunk victim who was
armed with bolo was provoking trouble at the said place when Costalles
responded and tried to pacify the victim but the latter ignored him drew his
firearm and fired it once upward. Costales poked his firearm to the body of the
victim but it accidentally fired hitting the right arm of the victim.
Recovered from the crime scene was one fired
cartridge case for Cal. 45. Investigation showed that due to severe drunkenness
the victim was not able to feel the gunshot wound on his arm and went home. It
was only discovered that the victim had gunshot wound at around 7:20 a.m. by
his brother that prompted him to rush the victim to the hospital. Case is under
investigation while the suspect is at large.

ifugao – Police reported a stabbing incident here that transpired June 29 at
about 7:20 p.m. in Dullagan, Poblacion North wherein the victim was named as
Walter Bingit Dulnuan, 31, vendor, resident of Mungayang, Kiangan town. The
suspect was identified as Ben Dumangeng Cabbigat, 57, unemployed of Poblacion,
North, Lagawe.
Investigation disclosed the victim and his
father in-law went to said place to visit their relatives, when at the area,
the victim parked his motorcycle at nearby MJ gas station. The suspect
approached the victim and asked his driver’s license, documents of his
motorcycle, telling him that he is a drug addict that caused them to argue. The
suspect suddenly stabbed the victim with a knife on his left hand, right foot
and on his lips. Said victim was brought to Natuwolan Clinic, Lagawe, Ifugao
for medical treatment while the suspect is under the custody of Lagawe police.
Brothers nabbed for illegal drugs

TRINIDAD, Benguet – Cops nabbed a man here for illegal drugs on June 29. This
after search warrant was issued by judge Danilo P. Camacho against Charles
Tabarrejo Ramirez, 32, driver, native of Ilocos Sur and residing here at JA 323, Pico, Cogcoga.
Confiscated from the suspect were seven
sachets of suspected shabu, digital weighing scale, assorted drug paraphernalia
and cell phone.
During the operation, the elder brother of
the suspect named as CarlitoTabarrejo Ramirez, 36, voluntarily surrendered to
police officers after being identified as
user and pusher.

P. Mateo, 39, native of Bauko, Mt. Province and presently residing here at JA

The operations resulted to the arrest of the
suspect and seizure of the following items: four sachets of suspected shabu,
assorted drug paraphernalia, Cal. 45 handgun and several bullets.

TRINIDAD, Benguet – A certain Anacito Alcantara Silang, 40, native of Camarines
Norte and residing here at IC – 90 Betag was arrested June 29 after warrant was
issued against him. Seized from him were shabu, bladed weapons, drug paraphernalia
and P2, 185. The suspect and pieces of evidence confiscated were brought
to La Trinidad police station.

PINUKPOK,
Kalinga – Cops conducted a buy-bust operation here June 29 in Sitio Marukduk,
Barangay Junction that resulted to the arrest of Ana Mae Dalingay Barroga, 30
and confiscation of one sachet of shabu weighing 0.58 grams and buy- bust money
of P4,000.
The operation also resulted to the arrest of
one Brian Direkto De La Cruz, married, farmer, 30, companion of Barroga.
Recovered from his possession were two sachets of suspected shabu weighing 1.24
grams and 0.70 grams respectively.
Arrested suspects and pieces of evidence

Drinking spree leads to
shooting; one hurt

Abra – A man was jailed here for allegedly shooting his drinking mate on June
19 at around 5:15 p.m. at Consolado, Lingtan, Bangued along the barangay road.
Police said the victim identified as Jimmy
Padre Bocarile, 34, water refiller, and resident of Barangay Lipcan, was shot
by Rojel Quesada Sagudang, 42, of
Agsimao, Tineg town.
Investigation disclosed that prior to the
incident, victim and the suspect were having a drinking spree at a birthday
party at the residence of certain Jonel Bernal. The victim and the suspect had
a heated argument due to misunderstanding but were pacified by Jonel Bernal. The
victim decided to go home but while walking along the road, the suspect
intercepted the victim and shot him twice and fled on foot to unknown
direction.
The victim was immediately rushed by Marlon
Benabese Conception to the Abra Provincial Hospital for medical treatment.
According to Dr. Apolinar Turqueza, attending physician, the victim was shot
twice on his left abdomen and was operated on.
Later at about 8 p.m., the suspect
surrendered to police with the Cal. 45 handgun which had one bullet.
Taxi driver held up
BAGUIO
CITY – A taxi driver was held up here by two unidentified men on June 19 around
11:50 p.m. along Yangco Rd., Upper General Luna. Police identified the victim
as Berto Lucas Marcos, 58.
Investigation disclosed while the victim was
driving the taxi described as Isuzu Crosswind, with trade name of Purple
Triangle, bearing plate No. AYU-260 owned by Rodolfo Amango of Cruz, La
Trinidad, Benguet, he was flagged down by the holduppers and asked him to ferry
them at Sumulong St., Baguio City. While on their way, one of the suspects
seated at the back suddenly choked him then poked a bladed weapon on his head
and uttered “Huwag kang papalag, pera lang ang kailangan namin! Ilabas mo
kung ano ang maibibigay mo!” This, while the other suspect seated in front
also grabbed him then poked a knife on his belly. The victim who was frightened
gave his collection money worth P600 to the suspects who immediately fled
towards Sumulong St. while the victim sought for police assistance.

TRINIDAD, Benguet – A vendor was stabbed here by still unidentified men June 19
around 8 p.m. near the Bureau of Fire Protection building here at Cabanao,
Balili.
Police identified the victim as Carina
Comba-as Biltican, 27, of Lomon, Kapangan, Benguet.
Investigation
disclosed while the victim was walking along the road, she was approached by
one of the suspects who was standing at the unlighted sidewalk near the BFP
office and asked her the way going to km 6 in Tagalog dialect.
When she answered, the other suspect from
behind choked and stabbed her several times. The victim was able to run towards
the BFP building where firemen brought her to Benguet General Hospital for
medical treatment while suspects immediately fled towards the national road.
One of suspects was wearing sweatshirt with hood, and short pant, while the
other suspect was wearing gray T-shirt and running shorts with both speaking
Tagalog.
The attending physician declared that the
victim had five stab wounds but these were not fatal. Cops looked for the
suspects but do date they were not found.
Bauko resident
arrested in Atok for illegal lumber
ATOK,
Benguet – Cops arrested a man here at Gueweng, Abiang June 19 around 9:30 p.m.
for transporting lumber without papers. The suspect was named as Jake Maitang
Kitoyan, 31, of Bangnen, Bauko, Mountain Province.
Cops
were conducting checkpoint in the place when they flagged down a closed
container van described as Mitsubishi Canter loaded with 282 pieces of pine
lumbers valued at P35,250
A certain Froilan Langtiwan, also of Bangnen
who was driving the vehicle evaded arrest. Kitoyan, failed to present permit to
deliver the lumber prompting police to arrest him.
Charges were prepared against Kitoyan while
the lumber and vehicle were impounded.
Two nabbed for
illegal lumber
PARACELIS,
Mountain Province – Police and Environment officers intercepted a van here
recently along the national road from Poblacion going to Butigue, driven
by Ryan Sungday Wannig, 33, and his passenger Rose Marrie Balansi, 35.
Both were arrested for transporting 28 pieces
of narra lumber worth P43, 972. Annig and Balansi were brought to local police
station while the vehicle was impounded.
Trike drivers hurt in
collision with jeep

Benguet – Two men were injured here June 19 around 5 p.m. along Asin road in
Sitio Lasong when the motorcycle they were riding on collided with a passenger
jeep.
Police said the motorcycle registered to
Samuel Nadiahan of km 6 Asin Road,
driven by Kenneth Magappid Nadiahan, 25, collided public with the passenger
jeep owned by Samuel Napiloy of Asin Road, driven by Jey Carvin Ananyu
Tagtagon, 23, resident of km 6.
The motorcycle was ascending towards Baguio
City when it encroached opposite lane and accidentally collided with the
descending jeep headed towards Asin.
As a result, the driver of motorcycle was
injured on his head while his rider identified as Jetrick Benito Mariano, 23,
construction worker, was hurt on his right foot. Both were rushed to Baguio
General Hospital for medical treatment. The motorcycle was heavily damaged
while the jeep had dents on its bumper and side mirror. Both parties agreed to
settle their case amicably.
Europa caretaker
mauled, robbed by co-drinkers
BAGUIO
CITY – The caretaker of Europa Condominium here at Barangay Mines View was
mauled by two men who took his wallet containing cash of P3,000 and his Sony
cellphone worth P3,000.
Police
said the incident recently happened around 11:30 p.m. along Modesta St. in the
barangay where the complainant was identified as Eddie Macasakit y Mauricio, 52, married.
His assailants were named as Oliver Ciriaco
and Clydon Tomas, both residents of Mines View. Investigation disclosed around
10:30 p.m. that day, the victim and his friend Kenneth Swida Alvin went to buy
liquor at Pantew Bar in the area. While at said place, they were seen by the
suspects who were drinking and were invited to drink.
After consuming one bottle of Red Horse beer,
victims paid their bill and both decided to go home. However, they were
followed by the suspects who aided one another in mauling the victim and taking
his personal belongings.
Responding
cops brought the victim to Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center for
treatment while a case for physical injuries was prepared against the suspect
