LA TRINIDAD, Benguet –
The woman who stole an infant here at the Benguet General Hospital has been
charged with kidnapping.
Police identified her
as Jane A. Agayao, 24, an Alternative Learning System (ALS) teacher from Ucab,
Itogon, Benguet.
The three-day-old baby
boy taken away by Agayao who posed as a certain “Dr. Ramos” at the BeGH Dec. 13
has been reunited with his mother, police said.
Police Officer 3
Brenda Gupaal, of the La Trinidad Municipal Police Station Women and Children’s
Protection Desk, said the infant – John Miller Vicente – was recovered Dec. 16
from Agayao.
Agayao, who was
positively identified by baby John’s mother as the supposed “Dr. Ramos” who
took the baby from her bedside, has been arrested.
“I am so thankful to
everyone who helped us find our baby, especially the police and those who
posted it on the social media; who shared our story until our son is returned,”
baby John’s father, Jose Antonio Vicente, Jr., 41, said.
On Dec. 13 at 4:18
p.m., baby John was taken from his mother’s bedside by a woman who introduced
herself as Dr. Ramos and said the baby was due for weighing.
The baby’s snatching
was captured on the hospital’s CCTV.
PO3 Gupaal said it
was Agayao’s cousin, who saw the CCTV footage shared on social media and
recognized her, who tipped her off to police
