Batac hosts National Inventors Week

BATAC CITY, Ilocos Norte -- The Dept. of Science and Technology (DOST) in collaboration with its institutional partners will showcase Filipino inventions at the 25th National Inventors Week (NIW) on Nov. 20-23 here at Teatro Ilocandia. The event coincides with, and will also be the main celebration of the 75th (Diamond) Jubilee year of the Filipino Inventors Society Producers Cooperative (FISPC), one of DOST’s partners.
The others partners include the Technology Application Institute (TAPI), Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU), Provincial Government of Ilocos Norte, and the City of Batac.
The 4-day event will feature and highlight technology and invention exhibits, technology for, training and workshop on entrepreneurship and financial management, training on scientific writing and among others. The activities are mandated under Presidential Proclamation No. 285 of 1993 which encourages them to showcase unique and marketable inventions of Filipinos for the Filipinos.
The event has “Inventrepinoy for sustainable growth and prosperity” for its theme. To further spread its message, different state universities and colleges (SUCs), other Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs) and prominent individuals have been invited to participate in its activities.
Among those expected to attend are DOST Secretary Fortunato T. De la Peña, Former PNP Chief Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa, former SAP Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go, Ilocos Norte Gov. Imee Marcos, Batac City Mayor Albert Chua, FISPC National President Francisco “Popoy” Pagayon, MMSU president Dr. Shirley C. Agrupis, and DOST Regions I and II Directors Armando  Ganal and Sancho Mabborang, respectively.
DOST- Ilocos Norte Director Joven Viernes said the agency expects some 50 exhibitors to present their locally invented products. They and other experts are expected to share their knowledge and wisdom in developing local entrepreneurs and inventors into innovative ‘Inventre Pinoys” who can push the country towards sustainable economic development.
Speaking for FISPC, Popoy Pagayon said: “Our inventors have dedicated themselves to creating innovative and customizable inventions. Their self-confidence, vision, wisdom, motivation and delivery skills bring the best ideas to their fullest reality. That is why we, in the FISPC give due honors to local Filipino inventors on this special day. We likewise take this opportunity to render due recognition to all Filipino inventors all over the world.”
DOST Secretary Fortunato T. De la Peña will keynote the event which he describes as “an earnest effort to help our Inventrepinoys carve and push sustainable growth and prosperity.”

SM City Baguio's Sky Ranch Opened on November 8, 2018. Mayor Mauricio G. Domogan emphasized that completion of SM City Baguio's Sky Ranch will do help to boost the growth of the local tourism industry. 
 SM City Baguio's Sky Ranch will make to increase affluence of visitors wanting to spend their vacations in Baguio City. 
The attractions and tourism related facilities is a new destination for families and visitors. 
More than that, SM management will add the rides and other structures among the trees then local people and visitors can have amusement park which is nature-friendly setting. The opening time of  SM City Baguio's Sky Ranch is 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.. The entrance fee on monday to thursday is P80 and on Friday to Sunday is P100. 
Domogan appreciated the initiative of SM City Baguio to continue being the partner of the local government contributing the improvement of the local tourism industry.
