President Rodrigo
Duterte signed an anti-red tape law to ensure smooth flow in transacting
business in government and lessen corruption.
This was
revealed by Rep. Joet Garcia, (Bataan-2nd district) co-author, who personally
witnessed the signing by the President of Republic Act 11032 or "Ease of
doing business and efficient government services delivery act of 2018” in
Malacañang.
The Act which
amended the "Anti- Red Tape Act of 2007,” Garcia said, streamlines
procedures for the issuance of business permits, clearances, and other
requirements necessary for doing business nationwide.
With the aim
of encouraging entrepreneurs and improving the business climate in the country,
Garcia expressed optimism that the law will also create an Anti- Red Tape
Authority which will monitor compliance by the different agencies and local
government units as well as implementation of policies.
The Anti red
tape law will erase the usual snail-paced processing of business permits, among
others that had sometimes become breeding ground of corruption and bribery
among corrupt government personnel.
Key
government officials witnessed the signing: Senate President Tito Sotto III,
Senate Majority Leader Migz Zubiri, Senator Koko Pimentel, House of
Representatives Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez, Majority Leader Rudy Fariñas and
other House Members who co-authored the bill and Department Secretaries led by
Trade and Industry Secretary Ramon Lopez.
