TABUK CITY, Kalinga — The governor of Kalinga tested positive for Covid-19 Tuesday.
At press time, Kalinga had 1,473 confirmed cases, 309 of them active.
Gov. Ferdinand Tubban appealed to those who had interacted with him to monitor themselves and immediately seek medical treatment if they experience symptoms of the disease.
Authorities said two provincial government employees also contracted the virus, but were not connected to the governor’s case.
Tubban, who is said to be asymptomatic, underwent swab test after he was identified as among the close contacts of his relative who died from Covid-19 complications last week.
The governor had several contacts during a recent meeting of the provincial Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of     Emerging Infectious Diseases or IATF when they extended the enhanced community quarantine status in Tabuk City until Feb. 14.
In Mountain Province, the municipal building of Paracelis and a sitio were placed on lockdown Tuesday after 10 persons were found positive for the virus.
Paracelis has recorded 30 cases, 18 of them active.
