Ilocos cops nab 108 ‘criminals;’ 3 killed

SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union -- Police arrested 108 suspected criminals in two-day simultaneous operations in the four provinces of Region 1 on Jan. 27-28 with three suspects killed during operations.
Brig. Gen. Rodolfo Azurin, director of Police Regional Office 1, bared this saying arrest of suspected criminals was realized under supervision of Col. Cesar Pasiwen, deputy regional director for operations of PRO1.
Azurin said police conducted 15 anti-illegal drug operations, which resulted in the arrest of 13 drug personalities and confiscation of 8.0032 grams of shabu and 10.09 grams of marijuana valued at P55,632.56.
Also arrested were the two top most wanted persons (municipal level) and 22 others.
Twenty nine persons were also arrested for violation of Republic Act 10591 (illegal possession of firearms) while three were killed during operations.
On illegal gambling, Azurin said police arrested 42 persons and confiscated bet money amounting to P8,084.
police also recovered 106 firearms in which 34 firearms were confiscated through 32 police operations and implementation of 30 search warrants, 41 surrendered, one seized, and 30 deposited for safekeeping through “Oplan Katok”.
Meanwhile, Azurin said from Jan. 1-28 this year, the PRO1 had conducted 138 anti-illegal drugs operations that resulted in the arrest of the 144 of individuals, of which, 43 were listed and 101 were not listed; and seized a total of 180.6064 grams of shabu and 9,189.7126 grams of marijuana valued at P2,330,889.032.
He said 26 operations were conducted that resulted in confiscation of 19 firearms while 54 guns were surrendered.
Sixty one firearms were taken for safe-keeping. -- PIA 1
