Beauty pageant, concert, trade fair, more slated

BONTOC, Mountain Province – The provincial government is set to conduct the Lang-ay Festival March 27 to April 5 after a 3-year hiatus due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Opening ceremonies will be on March 27 with civic parade and opening of the agro-industrial trade fair.
Applications are now being accepted at the Dept. of Trade and Industry for entrepreneurs who will be participating in the trade fair, said Jones Gal Malwagay of DTI.
The Professional Regulation Commission will conduct mobile outreach service for the province at the multi-purpose hall on March 28.
An essay writing contest for tertiary level highlight the day.
It will be held at the fourth floor of the Provincial Capitol.
A technical showcase will be conducted by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority March 30.
Health and Wellness activity will be done at the provincial capitol quadrangle the whole day while Catholic priest Marcial Llyod Castaneda will hold a concert called Lang-ay Marcs Songs in the night at the provincial plaza.
The Search for Mr. and Ms. Mountain Province pre-pageant and talent show will wow the crowd at the multi-purpose hall, provincial plaza on April 1 while the swimsuit competition will be held in the tourist town of Sagada on April 2.
Initially the search was questioned why it included the “Mr.” as the SP ordinance sanctioned only the search for Ms.
Some officials said it will affect funding from the provincial government.
It was explained that outside source was provided to augment the expenses for the search.
Rep. Maxi Dalog will reportedly sponsor “Lang-ay By the Street” afternoon of April 2.
As in the past, part of the national road from the Circle to the front of the gasoline station at the corner of Omfeg and Loc-ong streets will be closed for traffic from 1 to 10 p.m.
Thanksgiving mass, wreath laying and candle lighting will be held April 3.
The main pageant and coronation night for the Search for Mr. and Ms. Mountain Province will be done at the Provincial Plaza.
Medical and surgical workshop will be done at the Bontoc General Hospital while “tribal dinner” with the provincial governor will be held at the multi-purpose hall in time for the arrival of the municipal contingents.
The street Dancing, street chanting, and cultural showdown will be the main showcase in the program commemorating the 56th founding anniversary of the province.
Indigenous games and “Gangsa Night” will cap activities of the 16th Lang-ay Festival.
