400 seniors benefit from PNP outreach in Baguio , Benguet

BAGUIO CITY – Some 300 senior citizens here and another 100
were beneficiaries of outreach programs conducted by the Police Regional Office Cordillera with its stakeholders.
In this city, the event was held at Igorot Park on July 24, the regional police information office said.
The activity was initiated by Cordillera police director Brig. Gen. David K. Peredo Jr. with Col. Byron Tegui-in, Chief of the Regional Community Affairs Development Division; Col. Francisco Bulwayan Jr., director of Baguio City Police Office, personnel from Regional Medical and Dental Unit, Regional Headquarters Support Unit and other PROCOR police officers.
Highlight of the program was distribution of grocery packs to senior citizens, primary beneficiaries of the outreach activity.
Other elders availed of free services by the medical unit, such as medical, optical, and dental services.
This, while gun handlers availed of services of the Regional Civil Security Unit, while the Regional Recruitment and Screening Unit attended to police applicants.
Peredo Jr. in his message, thanked the stakeholders for being partners of PROCOR in extending help during outreach activities.
"For the past years and months, there have been several sponsored special projects and medical missions to enhance and be in support of what our kailyans need not only in far-flung areas but also here in metro Baguio. I am glad that with the help of the different stakeholders, we are having more projects and activities to inaugurate and offer to our kailyans," Peredo added.
The community outreach activity was conducted by PROCOR as part of celebration of the Community Relations Month Celebration and in line with the five-focus agenda of the Chief PNP, focusing on maintaining community relations and maintaining relationships with stakeholders and communities.
Meanwhile, a total of 100 residents from Benguet benefitted from another outreach activity initiated by Peredo Jr. Lt. Col. Ruel D. Tagel, Acting Force Commander of Regional Mobile Force Battalion 15 and Alex O. Manlangit, acting chief of Regional Medical and Dental Unit in Talete, Bayabas, Sablan on July 24.
Also present during the event were Capt. Dick K. Latogan, chief of police of Sablan Municipal Police Station and Mayor Alfredo B. Dacumos, Jr., Kristin Molitas, a representative from the Congressman’s Office, and other local government officials
Peredo Jr. led distribution of grocery items, rice packs, clothes, slippers, and school supplies.
The DSAP-Benguet Chapter distributed vitamins and emergency medicines, while RMDU-COR lectured on best practices in oral hygiene and a demonstration on proper brushing of teeth.
Dental health kits were distributed to beneficiaries.
The activity was also made possible with donations coming from other stakeholders, including "Madame of Bauang" the Philippine Red Cross- Benguet Chapter and the Drugstore Association of the Philippines (DSAP)-Benguet Chapter.
The activity dubbed "Panag-aywan Iti Kailyan", aimed to gather stakeholders’ support in helping folks, especially those who are deprived of certain services, and in support of the PROCor's DKP 3-Fold Agenda: Disiplina at Dasal, Kakayahan at Kaunlaran, Pagmamahal at Pagtupad sa Tungkulin."
