P149 million marijuana destroyed in Cordillera

Trinidad, Benguet – Cordillera police director Brig. Gen. David Peredo said a
total of P149,218,092 worth of illegal drugs were destroyed while 10 drug
personalities were arrested in anti-illegal drugs operations conducted July 16
to 23 under Oplan Herodotus.
Citing records from police Regional Operations Division, a total of P149,145,400 worth of marijuana plants was discovered and destroyed during the 8-day anti-illegal drugs operations.
The same report bared 29 marijuana eradication operations were conducted by joint operatives of PROCor, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Cordillera and PNP Drug Enforcement Group destroying a total of 693,615 fully grown marijuana plants, 35,560 marijuana seedlings and 75,000 grams of dried marijuana leaves and stalks in the provinces of Benguet and Kalinga.
Meanwhile, 10 drug personalities were arrested after they were caught in possession of a total of 10.69 grams of shabu, worth P72,692.00 in Baguio, Benguet and Abra, the regional police information office said.
Suspects were identified as: Reynato Soriano, 23; Hercules Verzola, 24; Froilan Ringor, 31; Billie Quinto, 31; Wilmer Lizardo, 33; Willyn Sendico, 28; Jaysie Liked, 32; Herceb Cadicoy, 44; Ritchie Delos Reyee, 3; and a 17-year old minor.
Cordillera police previously implemented Oplan Herodotus 1 Sept. 23–29, 2021, destroying 2,405,350 fully grown marijuana plants and 1,640,000 grams of dried marijuana.
Oplan Herodotus 2 was conducted Feb. 23–March 9, 2022, destroying 1,952,435 fully grown marijuana plants and 940,869.24 grams of dried marijuana.
Peredo Jr. commended efforts of operating units in intensified anti-illegal drugs campaign in the region, saying there was significant reduction in the number of discovered fully grown marijuana plants compared to data from the previous years which meant the anti- illegal drugs operations efforts proved effective.

68 wanted persons nabbed; no crime in 57 Cordillera towns

Based on the records from the Regional Investigation and Detective Management Division, Baguio City Police Office recorded the most number of arrests with 18followed by the Benguet Police Provincial Office with 16, Kalinga PPO with nine; Ifugao, 6; Abra and Mountain Province with five each and Apayao with four.
Of those arrested, 13 individuals were listed as most wanted persons.
Meanwhile, as a result of the intensified police presence, 57 municipalities in different provinces of the region and three police stations in Baguio City posted zero crime incidents during the same week.
No crime incidents were recorded in 23 municipalities in Abra; six towns in Apayao, seven in Benguet, five in Kalinga, eight in Ifugao and eight towns in Mountain Province.
In Baguio City, the Camdas, Loakan and Aurora Hill police stations lso recorded zero crime incidents out of 10 police stations in Baguio City.

Kalinga --Police and anti-narcotics agents burned destroyed more than
P140.9 million worth of marijuana plants
uprooted from five plantation sites here last week.
Kalinga
Police Provincial Office said a total of 754,250 fully grown marijuana plants
were discovered and eradicated from five villages in this remote town.
The joint operation led to burning of 32,500 fully grown marijuana plants, including 70,000 stalks and 30,000 seedlings of the illegal plant worth P16.1 million in Sitio Balay, Tulgao West.
A total of 96,000 fully grown marijuana plants valued at P19.32 million was burned in Barangay Butbut Proper while 245,000 marijuana plants worth P49,000,000 were uprooted in Barangay Bugnay.
In Barangay Buscalan, 122,250 marijuana worth P24,450,000 were burned while 160,400 marijuana plants valued at P32,080,000 were uprooted in Barangay Loccong.
"In support to PNP Cordillera's campaign to rid the cultivation of marijuana plants and preventing it from reaching the urban areas, the Kalinga PPO is determined to totally eradicate illegal plants in the province," Kalinga PPO director Col. Charles Domallig said.

Records from the police Regional Operations Division bared 10 drug personalities were arrested after they were caught in possession of 10.69 grams of shabu worth P72,692.
The same report disclosed five arrests were made by Benguet police followed by Baguio City Police Office with threes, and Abra with two.
The suspects were identified as Reynato Soriano, 23; Hecules Verzola, 24; Froilan Ringor, 31; Nollie Quinto, 31; Kurt Delmas, 17; Wilmer Lizardo, 33; Willyn Sendico, 28; Jaysie Liked, 32; Hercen Cadicoy, 44; and Ritchie Delos Reyes, 35.
All arrested suspects and confiscated pieces of evidence were brought to respective arresting units, where charges for illegal drugs were prepared against them.
Meanwhile, in marijuana eradication operations, 20 marijuana plantations with a total of 372, 565 fully grown marijuana plants, 5,560 seedlings, 70, 000 leaves and fruiting tops and 5, 000 stalks all worth P83,735,400 were discovered in the provinces of Kalinga and Benguet.
These were all burned by lawmen after documentation even as police launched operations to locate cultivators.
Police are conducting barangay information drives against illegal drugs.

P190-K drugs seized, 4 held in Kalinga, Abra
CAMP DANGWA, La Trinidad, Benguet -- Four drug personalities arrested in buy-bust operations in Abra and Kalinga on August 1-2 are now facing charges for illegal drugs, the regional information office bared in a report.
Police records submitted to Cordillera police director Brig. Gen. David K. Peredo Jr. identified the suspects as Allan Velasco Agod, 28; Jimmy Santiago Moscoso, 65; Marcelino Sanidad Cabanilla Jr., 56 and Raul Bernardez Belmes, 37.
In Tabuk City, Kalinga, Agod and Moscoso were arrested by elements of Kalinga Police Provincial Office and Philippine Drug Enforcement (PDEA) after they sold five sachets containing suspected shabu weighing around 0.5 grams worth P3,400 and marijuana leaves weighing 1,000 grams worth P 120,000 to a lawman who acted as buyer.
In Abra, suspects Cabanilla Jr. and Belmes were arrested by anti-illegal drugs operatives of the Abra Provincial Police Office after they sold a sachet of suspected shabu weighing five grams worth P34,000 to a cop. Another suspected shabu weighing 5.5 grams valued at P37,400 was also seized from them.
Inventory of seized items was witnessed by suspects and representatives from the Department of Justice, media, and elected barangay officials.

2 held for drugs; Sadanga ‘grass’ plantation found
CAMP DANGWA, La Trinidad, Benguet – Police arrested two “high-value
individuals” in anti-illegal drugs operations in Abra and Kalinga last week.
The police Regional Operations Division identified suspects as Gerardo Guillermo Sebastian, 55 and Real Gold Boclongan Olsim, 34.
Both suspects are now under the custody of their respective arresting units and now facing charges illegal drugs.
Meanwhile, in anti-illegal drug operation in Mountain Province, a marijuana plantation site was discovered in Sadanga town.
Sadanga police discovered 63 fully-grown marijuana plants worth P12,600.
All marijuana plants and seedlings were uprooted and burned at the plantation by police while investigation is on to identify cultivators of marijuana in plantation sites.
The police Regional Operations Division identified suspects as Gerardo Guillermo Sebastian, 55 and Real Gold Boclongan Olsim, 34.

24 persons held in Cordi; 68 towns post no crime

Cordillera municipalities recorded zero crime incidents from July 23 to 29.Based on records from PROCOR's Regional Investigation and Detective Management Division, Baguio City Police Office recorded highest number of arrests with 10 followed by Benguet PPO with four, Kalinga and Mountain Province PPOs with three each with Abra and Ifugao PPOs with two arrests each, the regional police information office said.
Of the arrested personalities, four were listed most wanted persons of whom two were listed at provincial and two city levels.
Meanwhile, as a result of the intensified police presence, 68 municipalities in the region and six police stations in Baguio City recorded zero crime incidents during the same week.
Zero crime incidents were recorded in 26 municipalities in Abra, six municipalities in Apayao, 10 towns in Benguet, five towns in Kalinga, 11 in Ifugao; and 10 towns in Mountain Province.
In Baguio City, police stations of Camdas, Loakan , Legarda Road, Aurora Hill, Kennon Road and Irisan also recorded zero crime incidents out of 10 police stations in Baguio City, the PROCor PIO said.
