LA TRINIDAD — A Swiss company has donated to the provincial
government an automated weather facility that gives a localized picture of
weather conditions.
The facility is an electronic device that senses, measures,
and transmits meteorological data of weather conditions.
The Weather Philippines Foundation of the Aboitiz Group of
Companies recently trained 25 provincial representatives in Luzon including
Benguet, on the maintenance and installation of the device at the provincial
capitol.
Government workers from five provinces were trained earlier
to be followed by series of trainings, as the project will distribute 1,000
units nationwide until next year, according to League of Provinces director for
program development Roberto Limbago.
“But 400 units will be initially distributed and installed
within the year.”
Limbago said the facility is meant to augment and complement
information system of PAGASA.
Relevant data that could be generated include rainfall,
humidity, wind velocity, and direction, he added.
