LUNA, Apayao - - Apayao Gov. Elias Bulut
Jr. offered last week a P200,000 cash reward
for information leading to the
arrest of killers of municipal councilor Bienvenido Verzola III of
this town.
Apayao police director
Alberlito Garcia said Bulut offered to give the cash incentive for faster
solution of the case.
Garcia said the cash
money will come from personal funds of the governor who has close family ties
with that of the victim and a political ally.
The police director
added with the cash reward, they are hoping to have a clearer direction on
identity of the suspects or any lead on the case.
A Special
Investigation Task Group was earlier formed to look into the solution of the
case.
Garcia said the police
is considering all factors including political and personal motives.
Verzola who took his
oath as municipal councilor last Jan. 7 following the death of his
mother, mayor Betty Verzola in a
tragic car accident in June last year, was shot at about 8:30 p.m. on Jan. 13 in front of his water refilling
station by a still identified gunman.
