Councilor eyeing to run for VM in Pampanga murdered

SASMUAN, Pampanga — A municipal councilor who was planning to run for vice mayor was stabbed and shot dead morning of Oct. 6 in Barangay Santa Lucia, this town, police confirmed.

Probers said Councilor Jesus Angeles of this town was jogging when he was attacked by unidentified assailants wearing face masks.

Angeles succumbed to eight stab wounds and two bullet wounds, police said.

Provincial Board Member Rosve Henson said Angeles was a member of the Kampilan Party of Pampanga Governor Lilia Pineda.

Angeles was set to file his candidacy for vice mayor of this town on October 11-17, Henson said.

As this developed, Pampanga Vice Governor Dennis Pineda condemned the killing of the councilor and called for a deeper investigation into the killing.
