Apayao wins Cordi 4Ps model family, exemplary child search

BAGUIO CITY -- Finalists from the province of Apayao emerged
winners in the 2019 Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) Regional Search
for Model Family and Exemplary Children, and will represent the
Cordillera region in the national tilt.
The family of Rosalie
Tactac of Sta. Marcela Apayao won in the Huwarang Pantawid Pamilya search.
Rosalie, a barangay health worker and husband, Oscarlito, a farmer and barangay
kagawad, have five children.
The Tactac family
expressed gratitude to the 4Ps program that helped them in sending their
children to school, with two already finishing college. Through the
Family Development Sessions (FDS), they have also learned to become active
members of their community.
Runner up for the model
family search were Melchor Bantiloc and Family of Bakakeng, Baguio City and the
family of Julie Salome Wallang of Besao Mountain Province in 2nd and 3rd place,
respectively.
Other finalists were the
George Tiwang Family of Tinglayan Kalinga, Adeline Ehican Family of Tinoc
Ifugao, Senny Matsu Family of Bakun Benguet, and Mercy Abquiren of Lubo, Abra.
For the Exemplary
Pantawid Pamilya Child search, Christian Kayle Balinan, 13 years old and grade
8 student of Sta. Marcela National High School in Apayao bested contestants
from other provinces.
Christian is a
consistent honor student and his dream is to become a successful agricultural
engineer, someday. The 4Ps program he said has e helped them live a more
comfortable life and to achieve better health and education.
Winning second and third
place respectively were Celestine Halen Paddapad of Hungduan, Ifugao and Odessa
Alipio of Sabangan, Mountain Province.
Other finalists were
Gracelyn Carpio of Tuba, Benguet, Krezzle Anne Suclad of Irisan, Baguio City,
Joyce Ann Pinera of Pidigan, Abra and Jairah Mae Gupa – al of Balbalan,
Kalinga.
The top three winners in
each category were awarded with plaques and cash prizes. All the
finalists also received certificate of recognition and consolation cash prizes.
Panel of judges for the
regional search that concluded at Eurotel here conducted on Aug. 1 were Dr. Ana
Chris Kilakil of the Dept. of Health – Cordillera Family Health, Mary Ann
Bungag of the Baguio – Benguet Community Credit Cooperative, Cariza Natalie
Ramos of Saint Paul University PH Community Development Center Foundation Inc,
and Maria Elaine Labasan of Department of Social Welfare and Development– CAR.
The search was headed by
