TUBA,
Benguet – This town has now a total 40 confirmed Covid-19 cases with 20 recoveries
and 20 active cases making the local government lock down the municipal hall
and Philex Mining community in Padcal, Camp 3.
On Oct. 14, five new cases, all from the Philex Mines community were reported by local government -- an 80-year-old woman, and four males aged 60, 36, and 39.
The five patients were all direct contacts of another patient, a 31-year-old female resident of Upper Camp in Philex Mines who was confirmed positive Oct. 11.
Philex Mining Corp. legal officer Eduardo Aratas said the patients were immediately isolated and admitted at Santo Niño Hospital in Philex. They are now at the Benguet General Hospital for isolation and treatment.
Aratas said lockdown was imposed on two buildings in Central Saddle and one in the Main Camp Proper in the community for contact tracing and disinfection.
The lockdown took effect Oct. 14 until further notice with enhanced community quarantine protocols enforced in said areas
Aratas said since the start of the pandemic, PMC established health protocols.
Cooperation of residents in the host and neighboring communities were enforced to ensure the safety of workers and residents.
Meanwhile, Tuba Mayor Clarita Sal-ongan imposed temporary lockdown at the Tuba municipal compound from Oct.15 to 20 for contact tracing, testing, quarantine and disinfection with confirmation of seven Covid-19 cases, all newly assigned frontline workers.
The LGU urged the public who visited or had transactions in the offices in the municipality from Oct. 12 to 15 to self-isolate and self-monitor. -- JDP/RMC- PIA
