CPP-NPA militia man surrenders in Kalinga

TABUK CITY, Kalinga -- A Militia ng Bayan member recently
surrendered to authorities here at the Kalinga Police Provincial Office.
Aka Ligtas/Bagya, 58,
male resident of Barangay Gobgob here was a supporter of the
Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army under the Lejo Cawilan Command, Komiteng
Larangang Gerilya Baggas and listed in the communist groups watch list
of Cordillera police second quarter of 2020.
He decided to yield to take part in the government’s Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP) and other benefits provided by the local government unit.

His surrender was a
result of a peaceful negotiation of police and the military with the
intercession of the barangays officials, Council of Elders and the Kalinga
Returnees Association.
The
government remains open with its invitation
to individuals who are still supporting
the CPP-NPA and other communist groups to return
to the folds of the law and join “whole-of-nation” approach to end
the 50 year old insurgency in the country.
