DOH: 111 Covid deaths in CagVal

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan – Cagayan Valley Region posted 111 deaths due to Covid-19, according to latest bulletin of Dept. of Health Region 2.Of the number of death, Isabela posted55 deaths, the highest among provinces, followed by Cagayan with 29, Nueva Vizcaya, 24 and Santiago City with three.
Since the first case of Covid-19 was detected in the country, there were already 6,328 cases in Cagayan Valley in which 5,377 recovered while there were 835 active cases.
Among cities and
municipalities, Tuguegarao City had highest number of active cases as of Jan.
21 with 216, followed by Ilagan City with 183, Cauayan City with 90 and Baggao,
Cagayan with 67 cases.
Of these cases, DOH
regional director Rio Magpantay said 819 cases or 98.1 percent were due to
local transmission.
Fourteen cases or 1.7
percent were imported cases including locally stranded individuals, while only
two cases or 0.2 percent were returning overseas Filipinos.
He said bed capacity of
referral hospitals in the whole region were already in alarming condition,
especially ICU beds that are now under "high risk" category, as the
number of patients with severe and critical conditions were increasing. \Officials said they were
alarmed of the situation wherein cases of community transmission were
increasing fast.
Meanwhile, Cagayan Gov.
Manuel Mamba and Tuguegarao City Mayor Jefferson Soriano earlier recommended to
the Regional Inter-Agency Task Force to place the city of Tuguegarao under
enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) to stop spread of the virus and gradually
