TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan -- The Regional Inter-Agency Council (RIATF) of Cagayan Valley approved recommendation of local officials to place Tuguegarao City under enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) for 10 days.
Checkpoints are now strictly monitoring individuals who are going out and coming in the city. Only people with essential travel needs are allowed to pass.
Mayor Jefferson Soriano said the ECQ status started Jan. 14 and will last up to Jan. 29.
He said elevation of the quarantine status was prompted by surge of Covid-19 active cases now at 222.
He added daily attack rate reached 10.4 percent which is, according to the DOH, already at high risk.
With this, the mayor said public transport was suspended and back riding not allowed.
However, he said restaurants were allowed to open in 50 percent capacity of its workforce and will only entertain "take-out" even as no dine-in is allowed.
"The public market is open but with strict compliance of the health protocols and offices at 20 percent workforce capacity," Soriano said.
He added construction works was allowed at 20 percent capacity while businesses selling construction supplies were allowed to open.
He assured distribution of food and some cash assistance to the affected families who belong to the marginalized and vulnerable sectors. -- PIA 2-Cagayan
