KAPANGAN, Benguet -- Two families will now be staying in the comfort of their new homes as Benguet cops finally turned over two newly built houses in Kapangan and Tuba.
In Kapangan, Dinson Parista, 66, with his wife and five children will now be staying in their new house built by the Kapangan cops.
Local police said upon seeing the small abode of the Parista family, they were moved and decided to make them one as their "Pabahay Handog" beneficiary.
The house was made of patched iron sheets, rice sacks, plastic with weak foundation.
From July 15 to Dec. 13, 2021, police and volunteers from the community worked to construct the house.
On Jan. 25, in a simple house blessing, they officially turned over the house to the Parista family.
Meanwhile, in Tuba, local police also constructed a house for Rizal Buyagao, 37, his wife and two children.
Living in a small “barong-barong” constructed using dilapidated iron sheets and plastic, Tuba cops vowed to give the Buyagao family a decent house to live in.
From voluntary contributions of Tuba cops with donations and manpower given by generous stakeholders and residents, they started construction on Sept. 9, 2021 and completed the house on Jan. 27.
The house was officially given to the Buyagao family in turnover and house blessing ceremony on Jan. 28.
Since 2021, a total of 11 families have benefited from the Benguet PPO's "Pabahay Handog".
