Santiago broadcaster dies of Covid

SANTIAGO CITY -- A
broadcast journalist in this city died Feb. 3 of Covid-19 complications in a
hospital, his relatives confirmed.
Wilfredo Baltar Sr., who anchored the radio show “Good Morning, Uncle Sam” of DWSI-AM in this city, died at the age of 67.
His widow, Tessie, said Baltar was diabetic and underwent dialysis for several years before his death.
He was also fully vaccinated against Covid-19.
Tessie said her husband’s remains would be cremated.
Fondly called Sammy, Baltar was a longtime high school teacher and worked at the National Irrigation Administration.
He also wrote columns and stories for various local papers and published his local paper last year.
