SNAP-Magat is national ‘Gawad Kalasag’ BPO

SN Aboitiz Power Magat (SNAP-Magat) was cited as the national winner in the private organization category for the 22nd National Gawad Kalasag or KAlamidad at Sakuna LAbanan SAriling Galing ang Kaligtasan (GK) awarding ceremony held at the Manila Hotel on Dec. 7.
SNAP-Magat received the highest award in the category of Excellence in Disaster Risk Reduction and Management and Humanitarian Assistance under Best Private Organization.
It also honored private organizations doing exemplary work in disaster risk reduction.
SNAP-Benguet was also one of the finalists for the same category.
The 22nd GK Seals Awards, organized by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) and Office of Civil Defense (OCD), celebrate the work of local disaster risk reduction councils, government response teams, civil society organizations, volunteer groups, safeguarding people's safety and fostering social responsibility are crucial core values for SNAP, driven by its mission of powering positive change for a more sustainable future.
SNAP Group also won big at the recent Gawad Kaligtasan at Kalusugan (GKK) Nationals, with SNAP-Benguet winning the national championship and SNAP-Magat taking home the Silver Award.
The GK National Awards is the country's premier recognition scheme that awards groups for their design and implementation of comprehensive Disaster Risk Reduction and Management programs, protecting high-risk communities and making them more resilient and capable of responding to disasters.

SNAP owns and operates the 105-MW Ambuklao and 140-MW Binga hydroelectric power plants in Benguet; the Magat hydroelectric power plant which has a nameplate capacity of 360 MW and maximum capacity of 388 MW on the border of Isabela and Ifugao; and the 8.5-MW Maris hydro in Isabela. The non-power components such as dams, reservoirs, and spillways are owned, managed, and operated by the government.
