Winners of Bontoc writing, photography contests bared

BONTOC, Mountain Province – Winners of feature writing and photography contest in this capital town were bared.
    The activity aimed to “promote holistic health by bringing out passion and creativity of the youth and promote tourism, culture and the arts.”
    The local government here through the Municipal Information Office in partnership with the Local Youth and Development Office, Office of the Congressman, JBA Construction, and AFEW Construction conducted the contest Oct. 24 to Nov. 18.
    The contest was also a follow-up activity for the high school students who participated in the Journalism Training for Campus Journalists on March 22-23, 2022 spearheaded by the Bontoc LGU through the Information Office. 
     “An Indigenous Tribe” by Jonalyn Fokleg won first place with a prize of ₱8,000.
    Second place was “Manerwap, a Rain-calling Ritual” by Alynne Pearl Cawaren with a prize of ₱6,000.
    Third place was “Courtship and Marriage in the Igorot Culture” by Catlin Chloe Taguiba with a prize of ₱4,000.
    The People’s Choice Award for feature writing was “Visions of Yesterday” by Nicole Brooke Polis with a prize of ₱2,000.
    Meanwhile, winners of the phone photography contest included
    “Pinag-aani” by Brosnan Luigi Alera with a prize of ₱5,000 who won first place.
    Second place was “Walit” by Rajiv Pangod with a prize of ₱2,500 while third place was “Og-ogfo” by Francis Ky Peckley with a prize of ₱1,500.
    People’s Choice Award was “Inasin” by Esron Chongso with a ₱1,000 prize.
    Meanwhile, first place for conventional photography was “Love Lab” by Anton Zaren Nasungan with a prize of ₱6,000.
    Second place was “Ika-ewan Si Ikit” by Evansheen Fatongkeg with ₱3,000 prize.
    Third place was “A Mother’s Resilience” by Ali Lang-agan with ₱2,000 prize.
    People’s Choice Award was “Ika-ewan Si Ikit” by Evansheen Fatongkeg with a ₱1,500 prize.
    The judges for the feature writing contest were Political Affairs Officer Erlindo Agwilang, Information Officer Valerie Jane Taguba from the Philippine Information Agency, and Supervising Administrative Officer Angel Baybay of the Provincial Government of Mountain Province.
    Meanwhile, judges for the photography contests were photographer  Juvy Lopez, Gregory Taguiba of the Mountain Province Exponent and freelance photographer Texter Taclobao.
