BAGUIO CITY A total of 96
identified government lots here was surveyed by the Community Environment and
Natural Resources Office (CENRO)-Baguio in 2022.
CENRO-Baguio representative Evelyn Wales bared this saying these included school sites and lots identified for barangay needs.
Of the 35 lots identified for barangay needs that were surveyed, 12 were already patented, she added.
This information was revealed to the Baguio City Council in a forum last Dec. 19.
In a public consultation last July 19, Councilor Leandro Yangot Jr., chairperson of the Baguio City Council’s committee on urban planning, lands, and housing, bared that one of his flagship programs in his three-year term as a city official is “Operation Titulo” or titling of lands identified for barangay and city needs including public schools.
This operation, he said, is meant to protect these government lands from encroachment and illegal occupation.
“We are looking forward to the complete staff work of these cleared and surveyed government lots so that we the city land needs identification committee can now forward them to the DENR-Land Management Services early next year for processing and issuance of their special patents,” he stated.
The CLNIC was reconstituted last August 31 through executive order 101, series of 2022 issued by Mayor Benjamin Magalong.
In said order, Magalong said there was need to hasten identification and survey of lands identified for barangay and city needs. He said these lands, after delineation, would be utilized for the general welfare of the citizenry.
The reconstituted CLNIC is chaired by the city mayor and co-chaired by the city administrator.
Members are the chairperson of the city council’s committee on urban planning, lands and housing, city planning and development coordinator; City Engineer; City Assessor; City General Services Officer, Assistant. Regional Director for Technical Services of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources-Cordillera Administrative Region (DENR-CAR); CENR Officer; District Engineer; chief and technical staff of the AO 504 Committee; and Executive Assistant for Barangay Affairs under the City Mayor’s Office.
