‘Snatcher’ shot, hurt by cop in escape try

DAGUPAN CITY – A suspected snatcher was shot and wounded by a policeman while he was reportedly trying to escape on board motorcycle here on Paras Road, Bonuan.

The Pangasinan Provincial Police Office based in Lingayen identified the suspect as Joey Macaraeg, 28, married, of Barangay Matic-Matic, Sta. Barbara.

The suspect was injured in the foot when he was shot first by PO1 Cerlade, who returned the fire and arrested later the suspect.

Policemen were conducting patrol in Bonaun when they received a report on snatching.

The victim, Marisa Tinuyan of Careenan, identified the suspect at the police station.

Police recovered from the suspect the items snatched from the victim. These included a cellular phone and a big amount of money in peso and in US dollar bills.
