Policeman injured in Kalinga ambush

TABUK, Kalinga -- A non-commissioned police officer was injured recently when he and his wife were ambushed here at Sitio Ileb, Nambaran.

Police identified the wounded lawman as PO3 Randy Lacuesta, member of the Rizal, Kalinga municipal police station.

Investigation showed Lacuesta and his wife were on their way home to Bulanao on board their service vehicle when armed men appeared from behind and tried to stop them.
The men fired at them, hitting the front windshield of the vehicle. When PO3 Lacuesta fired back, the men escaped towards Nambaran, riding a motorcycle.

The victim suffered multiple abrasions in his left arm, chest and abdomen, while his wife was unhurt. Motive was not determined. -- Dexter See
