Acetylene gang robs Pangasinan pawnshop
BY JENNELYN MONDEJAR
ASINGAN, Pangasinan – Police are still trying to determine members of the notorious Acetylene Gang who recently carted away some P3.5 million worth of assorted jewelry during a dawn heist.
PO2 Ramil Mendioro, who was among those who responded to a phone call of a concerned citizen reporting the incident, said two or three men ransacked the Waki Pawnship at the Asingan Public Market, owned by one Lito Quintero.
The suspects’ modus operandi, like in previous incidents in other towns and cities in Pangasinan, was to lease a vacant stall on house near their target establishment and operate at night by destroying the double steel-plate ceiling using an acetylene torch.
Then they open the vault.
The suspects, who posed as vegetable dealers, rented one vacant stall near the pawnshop two days prior to the commission of the crime, police said.
