Sick man commits suicide by shooting

VILLASIS, Pangasinan -- A 64-year-old man was found dead in his room here last week after apparently committing suicide due to his illness, police said.

Police identified the victim as Simplicio Labiste y Padilla, 64 married, jobless, of Barangay Bacag.
His wife, Beatriz, said she was out of their house when the incident happened. She went out with a granddaughter when the victim asked her to buy “pandesal” for the children.

She said she heard a gunshot a few meters from their house, prompting her to return. She was shocked to see her husband oozing with blood.

In a few minutes, the victim died. The wife reported immediately the incident to the police.

The wife said he had ended his life because of his acute tuberculosis which made him bedridden for almost three years.
