SAN FABIAN, Pangasinan – Personal grudge motivated the gun slaying of a graft investigator of the Office of the Ombudsman here dawn of Sept. 10.
Senior Supt. Isagani Nerez, provincial police director said investigators were pursuing this lead in the killing of lawyer Alejo Dojillo, 43.
Dojillo, a resident of Barangay Nibaliw Vidal here, was en route to the Five Star Bus station on board a tricycle at around 2:30 a.m. to catch the first trip to Manila when two motorcycle-riding men shot him.
He was hit five times in the back. Police found seven empty shells and four deformed slugs from a Cal.45 pistol at the crime scene.
Nerez said politics is out of the picture even if Dojillo’s younger brother plans to run for Barangay captain in October.
Dojillo was the son of retired Olongapo City Judge Jaime Dojillo and brother of Manaoag Judge Jaime Dojillo Jr.
Nerez said a special police task force probing Dojillo’s killing was looking into cases which the graft investigator was handling.
Dojillo’s wife, Maricar said she is leaving it up to God to mete justice to her husband’s killers.
“Vengeance is mine, says the Lord,” she said, describing her husband as a good family man and generous to other people.
She said she does not believe the killing was work-related because her husband was happy with his work.
“It was more on the personal aspect,” she said, but refused to elaborate.
Ms Dojillo said the night before her husband was killed, he cooked for his children Alice 20; Jaela, 19; and Lex, 15 – and bought several fruits for their dinner as he normally did not do in the past.
“What what was extraordinary was he sang and danced with gusto as if it was his last show,” Alice said.
Chief Supt. Leopoldo Bataoil regional police director, said he expects Task Force Dojillo to give him updates on its investigation as soon as possible.
Dojillo was killed some two weeks after lawyer Conrado C. Soriano was killed in broad daylight a few meters from his house on Mabini St. in San Carlos City, Pangasinan.
