2 Baguio bocaps ‘bribing’ execs for council post

As I have been saying, there is no permanence in the game of politics. No permanent allies, political parties, loyalty, friends or foes, boundaries and so forth. But despite their differences , they are forced to meet so they could get hold of their common goals. Stealing the political limelight is the tying of political knot by PGMA, FVR and JDV. This trio is now signing the same tune of the song “Together again” and maybe Erap might be joining them who once sung “I beg your pardon” but now will be singing “Please be with me” popularized by singer Eric Clapton. Do we see a possible coalition of political parties or a joint party as one? That we have to see.
Meanwhile from this turn of events, will House Speaker De Venecia removed the whistle from the mouth of his son, Joey de Venecia to prevent him from further blowing? Will the young De Venecia simply just obey his father and say yes or he will ask a bottle of filled milk to replace the whistle? Of course, no one in his right mind will allow himself to be gagged without any favor in return, not for Joey. As I keep on saying, nothing is permanent in politics, only conditions.

Another big joke is Kampi, a political party of the administration admitting that the controversial cash gifts given to certain officials came from them. This is one for the books, first it was the League of the provinces in the Philippines, who admitted that the “cash gifts” came from them, and now, it is Rep. Ma. Amelita Villaros of Occidental Mindoro and a member of Kampi claiming they were the source of the cash gifts.
This one again insults the intelligence of Juan dela Cruz. Whoever is the spin master ultra magnifico propagandist of this should be brought right at the middle of a football field and face the outrage of the Filipino people. I for one, suggest that this spin master should be executed via firing squad ala Bagumbayan. So, what’s next and who’s next on this cashunduans? Abangan…. ***
Generally peaceful, this is the assessment of the recent barangay and SK elections in Baguio City. Except for minor incidents, nothing untoward happened. However, my disappointment is the the local Baguio City Commission on Election for being clumsy in handling election-related complaints. One example is what happened during the last barangay and SK election at the Baguio Central University. One of my colleagues in local media was barred from entering the poll precincts despite identifying himself as a member of the media and he was there supposedly to observe the proceedings.
Accordingly, the security guard manning the gate, who was identified as George de Caoli stood pat in not allowing any media person to enter and pinpointed a certain Shirley Yap-eo, the officer in-charge assigned by the Comelec as the one who gave the order. This matter was brought to the attention of Comelec Regional Director Armando Velasco who immediately dispatched some of his staff to look into this matter.
True enough, the Comelec personnel dispatched found out that the report was true. However, no disciplinary measure was imposed Yap – eo. She have been made to explain why she issued such order and why she failed to contact the local Comelec office for proper verification and guidance. Worst, one day right after the election, several complaints of alleged irregularities were raised by some persons particularly residents from Kagitingan Barangay. Instead of accommodating and formally filing these complaints at their office (Comelec) these inutile officials at the comelec advised the complainants to file their complaints at the Municipal Trial Court in Baguio City
I can’t help but wonder why this Comelec top official seems reluctant in filing cases at his office, an office mandated and authorized to entertain, investigate, file and resolve election related cases such as protests and complaints! Well, I don’t want to think that this official got no balls unless he has other reasons. So where have all, the good leaders of Comelec gone? Hoy Gising! ***
How true is it that two former top officials in Baguio City who ran and won as barangay captains on their respective Barangay are now on the trail for their bid to win in this forthcoming selection as president of the Association of Barangay Captains or ABC. According to one of my bubwits, the two are now busy doing their rounds in the barangays campaigning. The other aspirant, known as a casino gambler in La Union is allegedly giving P10,000 to the new and re-elected barangay captains, while the other one trying to outdo the first one, doubled the cashunduan shelling P20,000 for each bocap.
If this is true, then, money in politics is again on the run for the ABC presidency in Baguio City. Anyway, there’s nothing new in pinoy politics. Blame it on the ongoing trend of panunuhol at Malacañang. Our political grass root levels are low learning a lot from them. Poor pinoys!

Cordillera Dept. of Transportation and Communication regional director Bong Mandapat should now be serious in going after those colorum and smoke belching vehicles under his turf. Often if not at all do I see his men conducting operations against these vehicles the reasons there’s still a lot noted colorums and vehicles emitting killer usok roaming around the city and nearby areas.
Nevertheless, I trust how Manong Bong handles these problems. I hope he will make an excellent accomplishment the soonest. Do I also need to remind the Dept. of Environment and Natural Resources and Baguio officials of their seemingly neglected responsibilities? What can they say about those vehicles emitting killer usok right under their noses? They should have been working hand in hand with the DOTC, LTFRB and LTO to get rid of these pollutants! Am I right your honors? Magtrabaho naman kayo!

I would like to call the attention of top honchos of the Philippine Long Distance Telephone or PLDT local branch in Baguio regarding a complaint brought to this writer by one of their clients who seems to be much disappointed by their kind of service. The complaining working housewife claimed she had been going back several times to their office to follow-up her request of her telephone unit that has no dial tone which needed to be checked up or repaired but, PLDT employees seemed to be making a lot of palusot. Ano sey ninyo, kayo diyan sa PLDT? Ayusin ninyo naman and serbisyo ninyo, period.

I would like also to call the attention of the driver of FX Taxi with plate no. AYC 431 to be considerate and kind enough in conveying his passengers. He should not be selective like what my bubwit witnessed when a lady flagged the taxi he was driving. The driver in arrogant manner refused to convey the said lady. Maybe the owner or operator of this taxi needs to remind his drivers the basic essence of good manners and right conduct.
