N. Ecija market chief shot dead

GUIMBA, Nueva Ecija – Two motorcycle-riding men shot dead a market administrator along the national highway here last week.

A belated police report here said the victim, Renato Barmachea, 46, market administrator of Licab town, together with his wife Marites, was on his way home on board a motorcycle when he was attacked.

Police said Barmachea died on the spot from bullet wounds in the head and other parts of the body, while his wife was unhurt.

Before fleeing, one of the gunmen took Barmachea’s wallet. – George Trillo
