ABC prexy says house bombed; arrested instead

STO. DOMINGO, Nueva Ecija — The president of the Association of Barangay Captains in this town who claimed his house was bombed morning of May 2 turned out to be wanted by the law.
Nueva Nueva Ecija police director Supt. Napoleon Taas reported ABC chief Guillermo Bernardo was arrested in his residence in Barangay San Francisco.
Bernardo’s house yielded long and short firearms and ammunition.
Also arrested were his two security aides identified as Madien Bernardo and Ernesto Corpuz, both of Talavera town.
A composite team of police and military personnel arrested the barangay chief by
virtue of a warrant of arrest issued by the Nueva Ecija Regional Trial Court Judge Nelson A. Tribiana, branch 37 based in Baloc, Sto. Domingo for frustrated murder.
The arresting team was composed of elements of the provincial police office, the 23rd Special Action Force, the 33rd Regional Mobile Group Co., and the Army’s 71st Infantry Battalion. -- MCV
