By Vency D. Bulayungan
LAGAWE, Ifugao- Three innovative projects from this province were recently awarded fund grants from sponsors of Panibagong Paraan at the Megatrade Halls in SM Megamall in Madaluyong City.
Jeremy Gawongna from the Provincial Governor’s Office said of the 98 proponents who were finalists in a competition of innovative ideas nationwide, at least three from the province made it.
There were 33 projects who won the same award nationwide after a two-day showcasing of project concept through booth exhibits.
According to Gawongna, the funded projects for the province are the Western Mayoyao Local Governance Project proposed by Pochon and Maanichar Centennial Batch Association, Four COPS to Improve the Delivery of Health Products and Services in Asipulo town and Cordillera Heirloom Rice Project: Partnership in Building Farmer Competency for Global Competitiveness.
He added the PMCBA project concept showcased in the exhibit targeted the impoverished and neglected barangays of Western Mayoyao.
The PMCBA will partner with retired teachers, senior citizens and municipal local government unit to formulate community-based land used plans and zoning ordinances and to have capability enhancement trainings focused on the Local government Code,” Gawongna said.
Approaches to target communities by the winning proponents reportedly matched the advocacy of speakers Chief Justice Artemio Panganiban and Milwida Gueverra of Synergia Foundation who both stressed the importance of capability-building in the grass root level during the opening program and awards night.
