BANGUED, Abra - Mayor Dominic B. Valera defended the transfer of the location of the Bangued East Central School which used to stand in the heart of the town proper here to the campus of the Bangued West Central School in Zone 3.
The lot where the BECS used to stand will be converted into a commercial complex where the Ilocos Foods Corporation owned by the Singsons of Ilocos Sur province will establish a Jollibee branch in Bangued.
Valera said the urgency of transferring the BECS to the campus of BWCS was due to the antiquity of the BECS building structures which posed danger to the lives of the pupils and teachers.
The mayor added the new location was more conducive place for learning, adding the old BECS site is no longer conducive to learning because of noise of vehicles passing through the school vicinity.
Moreover, the pupils can not concentrate during their classes because of their vicinity to the town plaza where people converge and conduct various activities.
The mayor revealed that the Sangguniang Bayan members have already given him the authorization to enter into a contract with the Ilocos Foods Corp.
The construction of the Jollibee structure will commence last week of January.
There were12 classrooms of the BECS that were transferred to the BWCS. Valera said additional classrooms will be constructed for the BECS pupils in the compound of the Abra State Institute of Sciences and Technology at the Bangued campus.
