2 cops found dead in P’sinan

LINGAYEN, Pangasinan — Police are still looking for killers of two retired policemen who were found dead on a road in Barangay San Andres, Umingan town night of Feb 29.

San Andres village chief Alicirio Balmores reported the find to the police. Probers identified the fatalities as Eduardo Ponseca, 49, of Barangay San Vicente East, Asingan, Pangasinan, and Eduardo Alcantara, 52, of Barangay Cabacaran, San Manuel, also in Pangasinan.

The two bore many bullet wounds. The victims were identified through their police identification cards found in their wallets by investigators of the Umingan police station.

The police also found near the body of Alcantara a Cal. 38 revolver with no serial number, three Cal. 38 bullets and a cartridge case.

The police also found a homemade Cal. 22 revolver tucked on the waist of Ponseca with eight bullets, aside from a hand grenade, one slug of 9mm bullet, two cell phones and the victim’s wallet.

A Kawasaki Bajaj tricycle was found by policemen at the crime scene.-- Jennelyn Mondejar
