Drunkard Paoay Lawman nabbed
PAOAY, Ilocos Norte– A town policeman here is due to be fired after his police chief actually caught him drinking while on duty.

PO3 Romeo Dumaoal could no longer reason out but offer his own hands while Paoay town police chief Senior Insp. Dexter Corpuz handcuffed him.

Dumaoal last week was reportedly directed to be on alert because an inspection team from the Ilocos region police office was heading to the town.

Instead of following orders, Dumaoal instead reportedly went drinking.

An angry Corpuz headed to where the policeman was drinking and immediately handcuffed him.


Tarlac coed slain by 'boyfriend'
TARLAC CITY -- – A 17-year-old coed was stabbed dead by her boyfriend at the San Isidro Sports Complex in Tarlac City last week.

Senior Supt. Rudy Lacadin, Tarlac police director, said Mary Viel Mallari, a sophomore at the College of Holy Spirit in Tarlac City, was found dead by a certain Armando Tiqui at the boxing building of the sports complex.

Lacadin said Tiqui and a friend saw Mallari and the suspect, a fellow sophomore at the same school, quarreling before she was found dead with multiple stab wounds.

After attacking Mallari, the suspect, 17, reportedly dragged her body into a comfort room and then casually walked away.

Lacadin said the suspect was later arrested in his house and turned over to the provincial social welfare office.

Probers said jealousy was behind the killing. A murder case has been filed against the suspect. – George Trillo


60-year-old Taiwanese stabbed dead
ROSALES, Pangasinan– A 60-year-old Taiwanese national was stabbed dead inside his nipa hut with the use of a baton sword by his co-worker in Barangay Carmen East, this town.

Killed was Chou Kuang Lien, married, agriculture consultant at the Harvest Agri-Business Corp. of said town and a resident of Imus, Cavite.

The suspect was identified by the police in a belated report reaching the provincial police headquarters as Ruel Palicpic, utility personnel of said corporation and a resident of Barangay Culang, Bolinao town this province.

Police investigation showedon July 10 around 11:30 p.m., prior to the incident, Palicpic with other co-workers had a drinking spree and afterwards the suspect took the baton sword from another co-worker and attacked the victim hitting him in the chest. – Jerry Padilla


Cops to go after Baguio vandals
BAGUIO CITU – City police will embark on a stricter program to apprehend persons vandalizing government and private owned properties and parks.

This, after the city government created a graffiti task force to implement ordinance 41 series of 2008, (anti graffiti code of Baguio).

This task force is composed of the city engineering office and city buildings and architecture office who shall initiate repainting or repair of defaced city properties. – Leroy Florendo


Fruit juice kills 4 Vizcaya students
BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya– Four third-year students of a public high school in the northwestern interior town of Villaverde died Wednesday after drinking contaminated homemade fruit juice, authorities said.

The victims were identified as Joani Molina, 20; Rommel Dacusin, 18; and Severino Quiyod and Jefferson Retorio, both 16, all students of the Bintawan National High School.

The four belonged to poor farming families in the villages of Ibung, Nagbitin and Cabuluan in Villaverde town. – CL


4 wanted persons nabbed in Ifugao
LAGAWE, Ifugao – Four persons were arrested in different parts of the province last week for rape among other crimes.

A certain Pedro “Dondon” Tumayan y Saltino, 29, single, farmer and resident of Barangay Danggo in Tinoc town was arrested July 13 by joint elements of Tinoc town police under Investigator Albert A. Carame Jr., Lagawe police under Investigator Typon P. Acod and provincial police office.

Judge Joseph P. Baguilat of RTC 2nd Judicial Region Branch 14 Lagawe, Ifugao issued the warrant for his arrest.

Two other wanted persons: Jun Monguiho, 25 and Fernando Tayaban, 16, both single and residents of Barangay Boliwong, Lagawe were also arrested on July 14 for physical injuries.

Judge Jenifer Humiding of MCTC, Lagawe issued the arrants for their arrest.

Redentor Johnny y Antonio, 21, single, jobless and residence of Barangay Tulludan, Tinoc, was also nabbed July 16 at Tinoc Pblacion by police led byInvestigator Albert A Carame Jr.

Judge Merianthe P.M. Zuraek, Presiding Judge of RTC 2nd Judicial Region Branch 29, Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya issued his arrest warrant for violation of of Republic Act 9165.



Mayor: Busol demolition to take place this week

BAGUIO CITY – Mayor Reinaldo Bautista Jr. Thursday said the planned demolition of illegal structures here within the Busol watershed will push through this week.

“Definitely we will take action next week,” the mayor told a media briefing saying enough time had been devoted to fulfilling the procedural requirements and to planning.
“We have to take action and definitely we will be guided by the Supreme Court ruling (that sided with the city government in its intention to purge the watershed of illegal structure),” the mayor added.

Members of the anti-squatting committee led by city administrator Peter Fianza and the demolition team headed by engineer Nazita Banez also met Thursday morning with various agencies to finalize the demolition proceedings in accordance with the mayor’s order to undertake the dismantling operations from July 20 to 31.

The concerned agencies agreed to be involved with the activities and committed support to make the operations smooth and peaceful if possible.

The group also set pre-demolition meetings with the settlers on Monday and Tuesday for final arrangements and notices.
