127 Ilocos teachers pass DepEd test for principals

SAN FERNADO CITY -- La Union — Ilocos chalked up the biggest number of teachers who passed the first National Qualifying Examination for Principals (NQEP) conducted simultaneously in various regional testing centers last May 17 by the Department of Education.

This was indicated in DepEd Memorandum No. 322 issued last July 21 by Education Secretary Jesli A. Lapus who announced that only 693 or barely 10 percent of the 6,924 examinees hurdled the examination.

DepEd Region 1 Director Ligaya Soledad Miguel said three Ilocos teachers were in the top 10 in the NQEP which covered various leadership performance areas of school heads.

Miguel identified the three as Christine Sanches of Pangasinan who placed fourth; Regina Nagtalon of Ilocos Norte, fifth; and Jean Boado of La Union, sixth.

The test was topped by Emmanuel Bugo of Region 11 (Southern Mindanao).

The Ilocos DepEd chief listed the 127 test passers in Region l (in alphabetical order) as follows:
