SAGADA, Mountain Province – A crisis team was formed here last week to address the rape and slay of Winnie Dumakit, a 15-year- old girl from Barangay Aguid on July 25.

The 3rd year high school student was allegedly raped and killed at Tangeb grounds of Sagada Poblacion by young men from Taccong barangay of the same town. Suspects Eugene Aguinsod, 19 and Arenz Dacmeg, 16, surrendered to the police.

The crisis team seeks to prevent vengeance which may happen to perpetrators and provide guidance and counseling to the victim’s family.

Sagada Department of Interior and Local Government officer Ray Fiar-od said the municipal government formed the team to address issues which happened here recently like the rape-slay.

“The Sagada clergy, through its Dean Fr. Domingo Mayapit, offered to help in brokering dialogues between Aguid and Taccong,” said Fiar-od.

They only want to restore good relationships that may have been strained as a result of the tragic incident.

Regular prayer meetings are being done at the Dumakit residence, he said.
