Ilocos most wanted man slain in shootout

CAMP FLORENDO, La Union – A fugitive tagged by the police as “most wanted person” n Region 1 with P300,000 reward on his head, died after he shot it out with police sent to arrest him at Barangay Mayabobo, Candelaria inezon Province, it was reported here.

In his report to regional police office, Sr.Supt Percival G. Barba identified the dead fugitive as Gery Andal , who has a standing warrant of arrest for murder issued by Judge Tita Rodriguez-Villarin of the regional trial court on Urdanaeta City, Pangasinan.

Barba’s report disclosed elements of Pozorrubio (Pangasinan) police and Quezon province police led by Pozorrubio police chief Chief Insp Domingo D. Soriano, went to serve the warrant.

Andal, however, resisted arrest and fired a shotgun at the arresting team, prompting lawmen to shoot back.

The brief shootout resulted in the wounding of Andal who was immediately brought to Peter Paul Hospital in Candelaria town but was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician, the report added.

Chief Supt. Ramon V. Gatan, Ilocos regional police director commended the arresting team and expressed satisfaction over the recent gains of Region I police in anti-criminality efforts.
