Police probe bocap’s murder

SAN NICOLAS, – A police task force is now investigating the shooting to death of barangay chairman Reynante Pasion in front of the Petron gasoline station here at Barangay 16, San Marcos.
Task Force “Pasion,” created by the regional police office, is headed by Supt Nestor Felix, deputy provincial director for administration of Ilocos Norte police.
In his report to Ilocos regional police director Chief Supt Ramon V. Gatan, provincial police chief Senior Supt. Benjamin M. Lusad said Pasion, 40, of Barangay Payas here was about to board his service vehicle parked in the gasoline station when an unidentified man alighted from a Honda Wave motorcycle, approached the victim and shot him successively on the back.
The report stated the gunman then boarded the same motorcycle driven by another unidentified suspect, and the duo fled south.
The victim sustained gunshot wounds on his back and was rushed to the Ablan Memorial Hospital in Laoag City for medical treatment but was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.
Police investigators recovered from the crime scene three empty Cal. 45 slugs and one deformed bullet.
In a later report, Felix said they invited witnesses for questioning to identify perpetrators.
“We are focusing on personal grudge and work-related angles as possible motives for the killing,” Felix said in his report.”The Ilocos Norte PNP crime laboratory office is also cross-matching the recovered empty cartridges with other pieces of evidence related to past shooting incidents in the province.”
