BULL’S HIT
Rudy Garcia
BAGUIO CITY – Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao is not only a national boxing hero but also a kind-hearted person who knows how to empathize with the poor by sharing his bounties with them like during Typhoon Ondoy.
He came to the rescue of Baguio’s dying tourism industry when he choose the summer capital as his training ground for his coming bout with Miguel Cotto. For the meantime, local folks are reaping benefits brought by the “Pambansang Kamao.” As a sign of gratitude, he was given a privilege as a special visitor. Of course, he could go around with the entourage in flashy expensive cars with security escorts in matching sirens and no one among traffic enforcers would dare apprehend them for number coding and other traffic violations.
He can go jogging along the stretch of irisan at Quirino Highway (formerly Naguilian road) and enjoy the stench coming from the nearby Irisan dumpsite. He can also do brisk walk along the central business district enjoying some fresh “killer usok”.from vehicles.
He should believe the department of DOTC-CAR in their imaginary claims that this city is a smoke-belching free city. If he wants a good food, I suggest he go buy them at the city public market rather than SM. There are plenty of fresh pork, chicken and cows meat, but he should be careful of these “double dead” meat that are being mixed with good ones especially at 5 p.m. onwards.
And if he wants dog meat, he can have his pick, but he should be sure that the meat inspection team is not in the mood to be there or perhaps councilor Elaine Sembrano going around the market.
At night, he can go and relax watching nude bold shows at girlie bars along Naguilian road, Marcos Highway and Magsaysay Avenue. But then, he could fall prey to these Magsaysay express girls who are experts in salisi, He might wake up losing his hard earned millions and his cell phone. And he should take note that there are dangerous characters who are in cahoots with the “prosti.”
Better still, that if he wants some good time ,he go and find those gay pimps at Otek St. just along “arroz- caldohan” Along videoke and music bars, surely there pimps would offer him the their alaga, mostly minors roaming at Rizal , Burnham or People’s parks ot at nearby videoke bars and billiards. They are of course pretty but I bet them they don’t have health permits.
But wait, someone should advice Manny and his bodyguards if he goes out especially at night. There are lot of “pacmans” out there who could make the real Pacman running for his dear life if he crosses paths with these street trouble makers. In case, Manny should not worry. There are cops whom he can ran to especially those mobile cops who are always at Dagohoy St. 24 hours a day, watchdogs of this favorite mini casino.
So you see, there are a lot this mountain resort city could offer aside from these, We have proven that we have the largest pizza, longest longanisa, largest salad and so forth. We can also break the record by declaring this city as having the most trash or having the longest period to clean the streets. Hehe.I maybe kidding but who knows, this could be a joke that jokers never dare to try. Is it a dream or nightmare that is still to come?

This is a column salutes punong barangay Nulita Sino Cruz of Barangay Kayang Hilltop in Baguio, for acting fast on a complaint we forwarded to her office regarding illegal gambling activities going under her area of jurisdiction. Without any hesitation, she personally wrote letters to these establishments to stop the unwanted activities.
Truly, if all barangay captains follow what kapitana Cruz is doing, then there is no reason why our barangays could not be role models, right barangay captains of Salud Mitra and Kagitingan barangays? Hoy gising!

It was painful sight to see our kababayans losing their properties and loved ones brought about by Typhoon Andoy. Sost were caught with their pants down and only a few were able to prepare in anticipation of the typhoon.
Though we see the problem as seemingly man-made, this is no time to point fingers at anyone but perhaps admit that this could be the starting effect of climate change, or how Mother Earth is telling us to stop abusing nature or we would be caught flatfooted next time.
What is more disturbing through are reports that some politicians are taking advantage to advance their political by giving relief goods with their names and even their images printed on relief plastic bags and food packs and other similar packages.
How I wish these opportunists will have their conscience or heads submerged on cool water, They should think they have social responsibilities to undertake in cases of calamities like Ondoy.
Well, another typhoon namely “Pepeng” is again in the Philippines as I write this column. Perhaps officials concerned are now prepared. To the kind-hearted who have been giving donations, thank you and may you have more blessings to come. “ Agkablaaw kami kanyayo apo!
