Former Abra mayor gunned down by cop

SAN QUINTIN, Abra– A former mayor here who was also provincial jail warden, was gunned down by a former policeman night of Nov. 16, in Barangay Labaan Proper.
Former San Quintin mayor Jovito Baldoz Diaz, according to Abra police director Senior Supt. Charlo Collado, had a verbal spat with former policeman Jovencio Cotchay Florentino before the latter shot the jail officials.
Collado said the former policeman was drunk, adding the that the killing was not politically-motivated.
This, though Diaz was reportedly regaining his former post in the town in the 2010 polls.
He was shot to death with the use of a short firearm around 9:20 p.m.
The gunman, also a resident of San Quintin town, was jailed.
