RAIN OF FIRE
Cesar Bonilla
LAOAG CITY -- Political dynasties are the legacy of the Egyptians and Romans although these civilizations have been overshadowed by time and modernization. The imperial dynasties of China, Japan and the Mediterranean have been justified with the contention that power concentrated in royal families lessens inequality among human beings.
The kings and emperors in Europe inherited the throne by succession and the vast expanse of territorial possession they conquered from weaker kingdoms. Greed of power knows no bound and a ruler sometimes considers his subjects as important tools in heightening his grip of political powers.
As a former student of political science and public administration at Northwestern University, I have read some historical facts about geopolitics. The idea of Labensraum on so-called “superior races” is localized to mean rich and affluent families will remain in the political limelight because of their money and influence.
The existence of the 3Gs (gold, guns, gold) to control the masses has damaged the electoral system and demoralized the good image of a political system deep-rooted on democracy. But who can say "No" to this menace when the people’s lips are sealed with money and in essence, cases against abusive and powerful giants in the political world are usually not filed.
Politics should not be used as a milking cow to accumulate wealth and dispense favors to sycophants and unscrupulous supporters at the expense of poverty-stricken. If a leader is self-centered, he could not feel the cries and miseries of his people. Greed for power also ends in violence when “opponents” are killed.

I would like to give due recognition to my former brilliant and civic-oriented professor in the College of Law of Northwestern University in the person of Atty.Ameurfina Respicio and her
talented son John David and Portia Respicio Salenda.

I would also like to express my deep gratitude to the readers of this widely circulated newspaper in the region for without them, the smooth flow of ideas cannot be transmitted. The pen that made Dr.Jose P.Rizal a towering figure of the Malayan race will be forever an inspiration among the crusaders for truth and justice.
The articles that I wrote in this paper have been compiled for future reference, a rewarding endeavor to serve the people with integrity. Thank you for the trust you have reposed on me. Our almighty God will surely be with you. Merry Christmas to all of you in advance. May God bless us all.
(Cesar Bonilla is due to travel to Hawaii the coming days and stay there for good but says he will still send articles to this paper. Bon Voyage! – ed)
