Kalinga gets P1.9 M to promote culture

TABUK CITY, Kalinga — The National Commission on Culture and the Arts granted P1, 919,910 fund for projects promoting culture and arts in Kalinga.
NCCA Commissioner Domingo Bakilan disclosed this saying the amount will be used for the 14 approved projects for implementation this year.
Granted funds are eight School of Living Traditions (SLT) projects, three cultural festivals and one radio program.
The SLT list includes the SLT on Kalinga Rattan, Bamboo and Pandan Crafts (Phase 1) of Dacalan, Tanudan with P204,800 grant; SLT on Kalinga Rattan Crafts and Pandan Weaving (Phase 1) of Mabaca, Balbalan with P203,800 grant; SLT on Banao Performing Arts (Phase 1) of Balbalasang, Balbalan with P196,800 grant; SLT on Kalinga songs, dances and musical instruments (Phase 3) of Tabuk with P150,000 grant.
SLT on Kalinga Backstrap Weaving of Lay-asan, Tanudan got P58,600 grant; SLT on Kalinga Pottery of Dupligan, Tanudan received P58,600 grant; and the SLT on Kalinga Bamboo Musical Instruments Making of the Volunteer Probation Aide- Ullalim, Kalinga Chapter received P58,600 grant. – Dexter A. See
