TUBA, Benguet — The regional Department of Public Works and Highways said motor vehicles having a gross weight of over 10 tons are banned from traveling along Kennon Road, the shortest route from the lowlands to Baguio and vice versa, to ensure safe travel.

Signages informing the motorists on the 10-ton load limit have been placed before the entrance of the scenic zigzag road in Rosario, La Union and at the rotunda of the Baguio General Hospital to properly guide motorists on which road to take in coming up to Baguio and going down to the lowlands.

Alexander Castañeda, DPWH assistant regional director, said the 10-ton load limit has been established by technical people as the most feasible limit for vehicles to traverse the 34-kilometer road.

According to Castañeda, law enforcers were already given appropriate instructions to be strict in implementing the load limit.
