SAN CARLOS CITY, Pangasinan- No one can escape really the long arm of the law, the saying goes.
This was once more proven after a notorious murderer, one of the suspects in the cold-blood killing of seven persons 20 years ago here, was nabbed Thursday by agents of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group at his hideout in Barangay Caingin, Bocaue, Bulacan.
Vicente Rosario, 61, was caught off-guard when joint undercover agents of the CIDG headed by Chief Insp. Julius Caesar Mana, head of the Bulacan CIDG and SPO2 Ricardo Bansil of CIDG Pangasinan, surrounded his hideout in Bocaue and arrested him, said Sr. Supt. Marvin Bolabola, CIDG Central Luzon chief.
According to Bolabola, Rosario was immediately brought here to face charges of multiple murder and multiple frustrated murder filed before the Regional Trial Court Branch 56 here.
Based on the data gathered by the CIDG agents, Bolabola said Rosario was one of 24 suspects accused in the slaying of Wilson Resuello and six other companions and the wounding of five others on May 5, 1990 in Barangay Balaya, this city.
Bolabola said the suspects ambushed the group of the victims using high powered firearms that shocked the province.
After more than two years of court hearings on the controversial murder and frustrated murder cases here, Judge Victor Llamas of RTC Branch 56, issued warrants of arrest against the suspects with no bail recommended.
It was not known how many of the suspects had been arrested.
An intelligence officer for several years and noted heinous crime investigator in Region 1, Bolabola said after closely monitoring the suspect was hiding in Caingin. Mana and SPO2 Bansil discreetly proceeded to the hideout of the suspect before dawn Thursday and arrested him.
Rossaeio was positively identified as one of the gunmen in the daring ambush here more than 20 years ago.
