Lacdan named new BCPO chief

BAGUIO CITY – After evaluation of qualifications of the five recommendees for the position of city police director, Mayor Mauricio G. Domogan here early Friday evening chose Senior Supt. David Lacdan next chief of Baguio’s Finest.
Lacdan, a member of Class 1987 of the Philippine Military Academy occupied various positions with the BCPO from being the station commander of Station No. 7 and then to the chief of the intelligence division before being designated as the deputy city director for operations.
Domogan cited the primordial concerns which must be effectively and efficiently addressed by the new BCPO leadership include the worsening traffic congestion at the city’s central business district, the implementation of the anti-peddling ordinance and other local initiatives as well as to help improve the peace and order situation in the city.
Currently, Lacdan is the chief of the intelligence operations division of the Directorate for Intelligence which is headed by retiring Director Eugene G. Martin, an outstanding police officer over the past three decades.
Previously, Lacdan also held various positions at the Police Regional Office – Cordillera Administrative Region, such as officer-in-charge, regional operations and plans division; chief regional personnel and human resource development division; deputy chief, regional logistics division, group commander, Cordillera Regional Mobile Group and deputy chief, regional operations and plans division.
Domogan lauded Senior Supt. Roberto Quinto Soriano, current officer-in-charge, BCPO for his outstanding performance in taking charge of the local police force even in a temporary basis since he was able to show his commitment to sustain the peace and order in the city as well as maintain its cleanliness through various cleanup activities and empowered law enforcers to be responsible and dedicated in the discharge of their functions.
Turnover ceremonies would be done simultaneously with the regular flag raising ceremonies of the city government August 2, 8 am, at the City Hall grounds.
Other nominees to the position were Senior Supt. Benjamin M. Lusad, Chief of the PRO-COR regional operation and plans division; Senior Supt. William Waay Viteño, chief of the regional health service, PRO-COR; Senior Supt. Froilan de Guzman Perez, Chief of the Administrative Division, PRO-COR and a certain Senior Supt. Valfrie G.
