Man robbed, killed;found on forest trail

KABUGAO, Apayao – A 56-year-old man, apparently a victim of robbery who was shot to death was found dumped on a bushy trail here Aug. 9 around 6 a.m.
Elmo Ollion and Calixto Lawagan found the body of Abelino “Putput” Cruz at the forested Sitio Puwad, Barangay Cabetayan, police said.
Investigation, conducted by Kabugao police disclosed the victim was married and a resident of Sitio Kabungao, Barangay Lutuacan in the town.
The victim sustained a gunshot wound on his right side of his back as point of entry.
Five pellets were recovered from the crime scene with one black holster for Cal. 45 believed to be owned by the victim.
Police said a Sieko 5 gold plated wristwatch and money of undetermined amount allegedly given by his daughter who just came from abroad were missing.
The weapon used in killing the victim was reportedly a gauge 12 shot gun, based on his wounds.
The victim’s cadaver was brought to his residence where a wake was held.
