Non-stop jueteng

BAGUIO CITY -- The illegal Jueteng game was not halted not even by the change of a new set of local leaders in the city. These jueteng operators are showing no signs of fear from the city’s elected officials. Could this be because nothing’s really changed in our local political arena except for three new councilors and a congressman who seems to be the blood brother of our former congressman?

The alleged protectors of jueteng game are allegedly the same people who are sitting in power now so it doesn’t really make a difference, Jueteng must go on. And it even seems to have grown bigger. If they’re not protecting the operators of jueteng, why is this illegal game still being openly conducted throughout the city?

The possibility of jueteng being legalized is carefully being studied by Pagcor officials despite strong oppositions from the Catholic Church and other conservative groups. Majority of Filipinos however are expressing favorable responses to its legalization to combat corruption among government people benefitting from jueteng money.

Kesa nga naman mga “chosen few” lang makinabang sa Jueteng money, at least the Pagcor can donate jueteng proceeds to charity and of course jueteng income will directly go to our government’s coffers for proper utilization. And that seems fair. Kaya itigil na yan!

A city councilor allegedly overpriced a client for a simple case, even refusing to pay for the publication of said case in a local newspaper even if his client claimed to have already paid for it since the latter gave the payment to the lawyer.

This has left the newspaper at a loss as to who should pay for said publication. Local publishers are investing time, effort and hard-earned money in their papers, and publication/advertisement fees are the lifeblood of these papers.

The client claims to have given the publication fee to this lawyer-councilor but said lawyer-councilor said he hasn’t received anything from his client yet.

Sino ang nagsasabi ng totoo? Bagabagin naman sana kayo ng konsensiya niyo, magsabi ng katotohanan at buong katotohanan lamang…
