Lawyer – councilor, pikon?
I am officially declaring the office of this councilor at Baguio City Hall the “Unfriendliest Office” in the whole wide world! This lawyer-councilor, one of the only five councilors I voted for, had me reeling in disbelief and disappointment. I am so turned off by him.
I thought he was one of the few councilors who had the heart and sincerity to serve the people of this beautiful city, thus, he was one of the chosen few I voted for during the last elections. But now, he has me doubting him.
He really should control his temper. He must see a “high blood” specialist right now! Bursting in rage is bad for the health. It’s not good for the heart at all. Controlling our emotions (especially negative emotions – rage, anger, hatred, etc.) is good for the body, mind and soul. Keeping calm is always the best defense against anything, especially when you are in public office.
Being a public figure I believe requires a lot of sacrifice. You are under scrutiny by the public almost 24 hours a day. And that’s unfair nga naman di ba? You’re only human.
But surely, the people who choose to be public figures, must have been prepared for all the criticisms (good and bad) they will face in return for the pedestal they stand on.
Facing these criticisms in the most professional and decent way possible gathers admiration and respect even from your critics. For public figures or servants, being onion-skinned, pikon or short-tempered is not good.
Being calm, open-minded of criticisms, acting professional at all times is good And this goes out to public office assistants and secretaries too.
